摘要： A telecommunications platform comprises an antenna configured to generate a plurality of communications beams within a respective footprint on the surface of the Earth, wherein each communications beam provides data communications services over a respective cell coverage area on the surface of the Earth. The telecommunications platform further comprises a processor configured to control the plurality of communications beams of the antenna to form the respective cell coverage areas in a fixed cell pattern that remains essentially fixed relative to the surface of the Earth, such that, as the telecommunications platform travels through an orbit around the Earth, the footprint of the antenna sweeps across the fixed cell pattern and provides the communications services via the cell coverage areas of the fixed cell pattern that are within the footprint of the antenna at any given point in time.

摘要： Embodiments of the present invention disclose a hierarchical network registration method. The method is applied to a hierarchical network formed by a terrestrial network and at least one layer of an air network, and the method includes: obtaining, by a radio network node, a registration result of an air network node, where the radio network node is located in the terrestrial network; the air network node is located in the air network, and covers the radio network node; and the registration result includes attribute information and beam information of the air network node; and broadcasting, by the radio network node, the registration result to a mobile user covered by the radio network node. The air network in the method of the present invention may be a satellite network, and the hierarchical network is a hierarchical network formed by the satellite network and the terrestrial radio network.

摘要： An approach for cost effective backhaul services in terrestrial mobile communications systems is provided. Data traffic over a terrestrial communications path between a cell site and a core network of a cellular communications network is monitored. The presence of a threshold level of congestion over the terrestrial communications path is determined. Appropriate portions of the data traffic for transfer to a satellite communications link between the cell site and the core network of the cellular communications network are determined. The determined portions of the data traffic are transferred from the terrestrial communications path to the satellite communications link. Once the threshold level of congestion over the terrestrial communications path has subsided, the determined portions of the data traffic are transferred from the satellite communications link back to the terrestrial communications path.
