    • The invention provides an image intensifier arrangement in which for each stage either the luminescent screen or the photo cathode thereof is decoupled by resistive decoupling with respect to the capacitances of a power supply source which is provided to supply high tension thereto. In each case the resistive decoupling consists of a resistor of such value as to provide a time constant with the capacitance of the relevant output point of the power supply which is many times greater than the duration of a typical high energy flash to which the intensifier is likely to be exposed in operation.

    • In an examplary embodiment wherein the x-ray image, converted into an electron image, is intensified through acceleration in the electrical field, in at least two stages which are inter-coupled via an intermediate screen, such screen contains, as significant elements, a cathodoluminescent layer and a photocathode layer which is optically in contact with the latter. Of these, the one is disposed on the one side and the other is disposed on the opposite side of a satisfactorily stable carrier plate which allows the light of the cathodoluminescent layer to pass through. In the case of this intermediate screen it is difficult to keep the surface sufficiently clean for the purpose of applying the photocathode layer. To this end, the disclosure provides that the surface of the carrier plate be coated with a coating which is resistant to the photocathode layer, which coating, for a photocathode layer of cesium antimony, can be comprised of cesium iodide and be 5 and 10 .mu.m thick. Thus a tight (or sealed) covering of the base and a clean surface are obtained. An x-ray image intensifier improved in accordance with the disclosure is particularly suited for use in medical x-ray diagnostics.

    • A tube for producing a display on a phosphor screen of a field of view scanned by a mirror having means to image an elemental strip of the field of view on a plurality of radiant energy sensitive detectors arranged in a straight line perpendicular to the direction of scan. The length dimension of the strip is maintained parallel to the line of the detectors. The tube has a photo-cathode which is illuminated by a plurality of intensity modulated sources of light corresponding to the detectors. The electron stream output of the photo-cathode is confined magnetically and swept magnetically in synchronism with mirror movement. The tube is much simpler and less expensive than present day computerized displays.
