    • A mounting and retaining assembly for a degaussing coil and ground strap for use on a cathode ray tube includes a flexible wire form that is held in place by the tube tension band. The wire is bent to form separate regions that receive the degaussing coil and ground strap. When the degaussing coil and ground strap are in place, the wire is under tension which holds the degaussing coil and ground strap firmly against the rear surface of the tube. The mounting and retaining assembly also includes retaining clips that cooperate and are held in place by the tube mounting lugs. The clips incorporate retaining loops that also receive and retain the degaussing coil and ground strap at other points.

    • A cathode ray tube includes a tube having a panel, a funnel, and a neck, a color selection apparatus mounted to the panel within the tube, an inner shield connected to the color selection apparatus. The inner shield includes a plurality of side walls that form a center opening through which electron beams pass, and at least one degaussing coil mounted at outer surface of the tube. The degaussing coil includes a first coil mounted toward the panel, a second coil mounted toward the neck, and a third coil connected to ends of the first coil and the second coil to interconnect the first coil and the second coil. The second coil is mounted on the tube in a state substantially overlapping distal edge portions of the side walls of the inner shield on which the second coil is mounted.

    • An engaging structure of a flexible retainer which includes a retaining portion for retaining a member to be retained and which retains the member to be retained at a mounting plate by engaging the retaining portion with a mounting hole formed at a mounting plate, comprising: a pair of leg pieces which are inserted through the mounting hole; a pair of pawl pieces which are provided at an anchor portion to which distal ends of the pair of leg pieces are connected and which are inserted through the mounting hole so as to elastically abut a back surface of the mounting plate; and elastic plates which are provided in pairs so as to oppose the pawl pieces and elastically contact the surface of the mounting plate. Because the elastic plates urge the anchor portion in a direction of withdrawing the anchor portion, the engaging structure of the retainer can conform to changes in the thickness of the mounting plate. Moreover, against the force which pulls the anchor portion out of the mounting hole due to the inclination of the retainer, the pawl pieces are pressed and expanded so as to widely abut the back surface of the mounting plate. Accordingly, the withdrawal of the anchor portion is prevented.
