    • A flat cable having a linear portion in at least a part thereof. The linear portion has a plurality of insulated conductors juxtaposed to one another with adjacent insulated conductors being adhered to each other to provide an integral insulative layer, and a resin tape applied to the surface of the integral insulative layer so as to conform to the shape of the surface. In the production of this flat cable, a plurality of insulated conductors, together with a resin tape, are feed into a mold. In the mold, adjacent insulated conductors in their insulative layers are fused to each other to form an integral insulative layer. The resin tape is applied to the integral insulative layer so as to conform to the shape of the surface of the integral insulative layer.

    • Flat cables 12 are arranged on a plane, and insulating sheaths 11 are fused and connected at ends of the flat cables 12 to form a first fused portion 16. A second fused portion 17 is formed next to the first fused portion 16. Further, the insulating sheaths 11 are fused and connected in intermediate positions of the respective flat cables 12, thereby forming a third fused portion 19. The first fused portion 16 strengthens the connection of a flat multiple-core cable at its opposite ends without fusing and adhering a tape thereto. The second fused portion 17 prevents the flat multiple-core cable from being bent during the insertion into a terminal in an equipment. After the insertion, the second fused portion 17 having a sufficient flexibility permits the flat multiple-core cable to be bent near the opening of the terminal. Further, the third fused portion 19 enables the connection of the respective flat cables in their intermediate positions without the use of a connecting member, thereby reducing a production cost and making the flat multiple-core cable suitable for use in a wiring in a narrow space.

    • There is disclosed a lattice structure having a plurality of elongated parallel elements interconnected periodically by integrally formed ribs therebetween and a plurality of elongated filaments, each of which is embedded in and adhered to one of the elongated parallel elements. The structure is constructed by a method which includes the steps of molding the lattice structure from film or laminate belts, heating the filaments above the melting temperature of the molded lattice structure, joining the heated elements with the structure and solidifying the lattice structure adjacent each filament. The steps are performed by a machine which has rotating cylindrical drums in rolling contact to heat and mold the lattice structure therebetween, a heated cylindrical drum over which the filaments are passed to heat them to a temperature above the melting temperature of the molded lattice structure, contacting rotating cylindrical drums between which the molded elements of a lattice structure and the filaments are passed to join the filaments into the lattice structure and a pair of cooled rotating drums in rolling contact between which the joined structure is directed to solidify the combination.
