    • A polymer SP insulator comprising an FRP core 1, a sheath 2 having a plurality of sheds 6 provided on outer periphery of FRP core 1, and metal-end-fittings 3, 4 crimped to upper and lower ends of FRP core 1, in which a flat plate 11 for adjusting the overall length dimension after crimping the metal-end-fitting 4 is assembled in the inner bottom of the metal-end-fitting 4, and the overall length dimension is uniformly adjusted by the thickness of the flat plate 11. Further, a stress concentration portion such as cross groove is provided in the outer bottom of the lower Metal-end-fitting 4, and prevents instability by deformation of flange 8 when crimping the Metal-end-fitting 4. In this configuration, in spite of the structure of crimping metal-end-fittings at upper and lower ends of the FRP core, the overall length tolerance, parallelism and eccentricity can be suppressed. In order to assure the flashover distance economically, preferably, the diameter of sheds of at least highest position and lowest position is larger than the diameter of intermediate shed.

    • A reinforced electrical insulator has a load sustaining mechanical core with a pair of attachment members located at its longitudinal ends. One of the attachment members extends longitudinally into the mechanical core to provide reinforcement to the mechanical core. The mechanical core member is constructed of a rigid, dielectric material with a first end section, a second end section, and a center section. A plurality of weathersheds extending outwardly from the center section of core member in a substantially radial direction relative to the longitudinal axis. The first and second end sections having maximum widths which are larger than the maximum width of the center section. The attachment members have inner portions embedded within the end sections of the core and outer portions extending outwardly from the end sections of the core. One of the attachment members has its inner portion embedded within the center section of the core and its outer portion provided with first and second posts extending outwardly from the core. The first and second posts have their centers spaced apart by a distance which is greater than the maximum width the second inner portion. In the preferred embodiment, the posts are threaded with their centers lying on a 2.25 inch or 3 inch circle.

    • A large insulator is composed of several partial insulators. At least two such partial insulators are placed one above another. The upper partial insulator has a plane surface on the base portion of the insulator. An annular protective screen is also provided on the upper insulator having ridges and grooves on the underside thereof. The lower partial insulator has a plane surface on the upper portion. The two plane surfaces are cemented together to form a joint. The cemented joint is provided at the level of the base between the groove bottom of the innermost groove and the ridge top of the innermost ridge.

    • A high-voltage electrical conductor is encapsulated within a rectilinear tubular casing comprising a plurality of tubular sections connected together in essentially end-to-end relation by means of a coupling structure that includes telescoped coupling sleeves secured respectively to the end portions of the casing sections and an elastic support insulator through which the conductor passes and is supported centrally within the casing. The support insulator also includes two oppositely directed cup portions the side walls of which adjoin and are secured to the inner surfaces of the coupling sleeves. Being elastic, the cup portions of the insulator yield elastically in association with a corresponding longitudinal movement of the coupling sleeves to accommodate temperature-induced longitudinal expansions and contractions of the metallic casing sections.
