    • An electronic musical instrument capable of suppressing resonance of a soundboard and reducing a peak dip of the frequency characteristic of a musical tone to enable excellent musical sound to be obtained. The soundboard has first and second ends which extend parallel to each other. The first and second ends are secured to a predetermined part of the instrument by first screws and second screws. A vibration exciter is provided on the soundboard and driven according to a musical tone signal to vibrate the soundboard to cause the soundboard to generate a musical tone. The first and second screws are arranged along the respective first and second ends in a staggered manner such that each first screw and each first screw are not opposed to each other in symmetrical relation in a direction orthogonal to the first and second ends.

    • A sound capture device is affixed to an acoustic instrument to capture the natural sound output of the instrument. The captured sound signal is routed to an electronic sound augmentation system that is configured to augment the captured sound with spatial sound effects such as reverb, echo, delay, etc. The processed and augmented sound is then reproduced via a vibrating driver that has been affixed to the body of the acoustic instrument. This creates a situation where the body of the musical instrument, responding to a series of vibrations produced by the vibrating driver, acts as a speaker component, reproducing a rich augmented sound output that comprises the sum of the sound produced by the original sound production capabilities of the acoustical instrument plus the added augmented or enhanced sound effects.

    • The apparatus of the invention comprises a loudspeaker, preferably, having a nearly flat diaphragm, and a plurality of microphones disposed in confronting relationship to the diaphragm of the loudspeaker at different positions in a sound radiation plane of the diaphragm, so that the microphones can individually pick up sounds radiating from different portions of the diaphragm where vibrational modes are expected to be different from one another. Further to finish a tremolo effect to the sounds finally produced, the sound waves from the loudspeaker to the microphones are periodically interrupted. According to one example of the invention, such periodical sound interruption may be caused by rotating the loudspeaker itself, and according to another example thereof, there may be employed a sound interrupting member having therein sound passages for selectively and locally passing the sound waves emitted from the different portions of the loudspeaker to the respective microphones, such sound interrupting member being disposed rotatably between the loudspeaker and the microphones.
