摘要： Some embodiments are directed to a lockdown apparatus for facilitating initiation of lockdown procedures at a facility that includes multiple doors and is configured for occupation by facility occupants. A lockdown actuator is disposed at the facility and configured to initiate transmission of a lockdown initiation signal upon being actuated, the lockdown actuator being configured to be recognizably distinguishable from the fire alarm actuator. A lockdown communicator is configured to produce a lockdown initiation communication for communicating initiation of lockdown procedures to the facility occupants and individuals not disposed proximate the facility upon transmission of the lockdown initiation signal, the lockdown initiation communication being recognizably distinguishable from the fire alarm communication. A display is configured to indicate status of each of the multiple doors of the facility upon transmission of the lockdown initiation signal, the status including at least one of open versus closed, and locked versus unlocked.

摘要： A smoke detector system includes a shielding structure enclosing a smoke detector, smoke detector circuit board or other contents. The shielding structure seals the contents from smoke, exhaust gasses, dust, chemicals, moisture, insects and other airborne particulates. The shielding structure is maintained sealed by a thermal bolt containing a thermal element which changes its state at a threshold temperature indicative of a developing fire and breaks the sealing of the shielding structure once the predetermined temperature has been reached. A lid of the shielding structure is held in place against a mounting plate by the thermal bolt. When the thermal bolt reaches the threshold temperature, it loses the integrity and allows the lid separation from the mounting plate to automatically open the shielding structure, thus allowing an internally mounted smoke detector or smoke detector circuit board to monitor the presence of smoke.

摘要： A burst temperature indicator system for determining when an electrical contact or other component reaches a predetermined temperature. In operation, a trace material may disperse into a surrounding environment, and be detected, when the electrical component reaches a predetermined threshold temperature. One or more foil barriers may be ruptured or broken by temperature-induced gas pressure. According to another aspect of this disclosure, a rupture disk may be burst at a predetermined temperature to generate, or enable emission of, a light signal. According to another aspect, a rupture disk device acts as, or is associated with, an engine to drive one or more electro-mechanical and/or acoustic devices to signal the occurrence of a predetermined temperature.

摘要： A particle detection system including a particle detector in fluid communication with at least two sample inlets for receiving a sample flow from a monitored region. The particle detector includes detection means for detecting the level of particles within the sample flow and outputting a first signal indicative of the level of particles within the sample flow. A flow sensor is located downstream of the sample inlets for measuring the flow rate of the sample flow and outputting a second signal indicative of the flow rate of the sample flow. At least a first sample inlet is normally open to the monitored region for receiving at least part of the sample flow. At least a second sample inlet is normally closed to the monitored region but is openable to the monitored region in response to a change in environmental conditions in the monitored region. The particle detection system further includes processing means adapted for receiving the first and second signals and comparing the first signal to a predetermined threshold level and comparing the second signal to a predetermined threshold flow rate, and generating an output signal based on the respective comparisons of the first and second signals. A method of particle detection is also described.

摘要： A particle detection system including a particle detector in fluid communication with at least two sample inlets for receiving a sample flow from a monitored region. The particle detector includes detection means for detecting the level of particles within the sample flow and outputting a first signal indicative of the level of particles within the sample flow. A flow sensor is located downstream of the sample inlets for measuring the flow rate of the sample flow and outputting a second signal indicative of the flow rate of the sample flow. At least a first sample inlet is normally open to the monitored region for receiving at least part of the sample flow. At least a second sample inlet is normally closed to the monitored region but is openable to the monitored region in response to a change in environmental conditions in the monitored region. The particle detection system further includes processing means adapted for receiving the first and second signals and comparing the first signal to a predetermined threshold level and comparing the second signal to a predetermined threshold flow rate, and generating an output signal based on the respective comparisons of the first and second signals. A method of particle detection is also described.
