    • An image forming apparatus includes a storage unit, a selection unit, and a generation unit. The storage unit stores first route information for acquiring first print information from an information processing apparatus, and stores second route information for acquiring second print information via an information conversion apparatus. The selection unit selects the second route information if conversion of the first print information into the second print information is necessary. In response to determining that a factor disturbing an acquisition of the second print information exist, the generation unit changes the second route information selected by the selection unit to the first route information, and request the conversion to the information processing apparatus so that, among pieces of print information which can be output from the information processing apparatus and can be printed by the image forming apparatus, the first print information becomes print information closer to the second print information.

    • There are provided a printing apparatus which can maintain an optimal transfer rate with an external device by an optimal buffer management, and a reception buffer management method thereof. In the printing apparatus according to this invention, assume that data received in unit of packet using a wireless interface from the external device is stored in a plurality of reception buffers. A maximum receivable data amount which can be used for receiving the data from the external device is determined on the basis of the number of the confirmed empty reception buffer(s). The data transmittable amount notified of the external device is then compared with the maximum receivable data amount. When receiving a request from the external device, the printing apparatus replies to the external device to change the notified data transmittable amount, in accordance with the comparison result.

    • An object of the invention is to provide a printing method whereby a function for retreating print data in the case where the print data cannot be printed is provided, and the printing of other print data is preferentially performed or a printing is enabled to be executed when an apparatus enters a printable status of the print data, thereby improving a print working efficiency. To accomplish this object, there is provided a printing method of using a host which can set an auto retreat of print data and a print output apparatus which is connected so that it can bidirectionally communicate with the host and is equipped with a memory device which can perform a retreat processing of the data in response to a request from the host, wherein the host sends the print data to the print output apparatus, the print output apparatus receives the print data sent from the host and checks whether the data can be normally printed or not on the basis of print attributes of the received print data and a status of the print output apparatus, when it is decided that the data can be normally printed, the printing is executed, and when it is decided that the data cannot be normally printed, the print data is retreated to the memory device in accordance with the setting of the auto retreat, thereby enabling the printing of other print data to be executed.
