摘要： The invention relates to a slide device (1) for ascertaining an amount of insulin to be injected, comprising portions of flat material arranged in layers, which form a disk-like housing body (52), having a plurality of slide tongues displaceable counter to one another, wherein a first slide tongue (8) has a plurality of input scales (16), each with an equidistant line graduation, and a output scale (18), and can be manually grasped for the intended use and is displaceable in a first direction (14); wherein each input scale (16) is assigned a first parameter (37); wherein a second slide tongue (30) is displaceable in a second direction (32), which extends transversely to the first direction (14), and has a window (34) with a setting mark (35), which can be positioned relative to the housing body (52) in such a way that a visual inspection selectively of each of the input scales (16) is enabled; wherein next to the second slide tongue (30), a third slide tongue (38) is displaceable in the second direction (32) and has a plurality of windows (40), which are embodied and arranged in such a way that each window (40), in a suitably selectable displacement position of the third slide tongue (38) relative to the housing body (52), enables a visual inspection of the output scale (18); and wherein each window (40) of the third slide tongue (38) on its periphery in the first direction has a reading scale (42) with an equidistant line graduation, and each reading scale (42) is assigned a second parameter (45); and wherein the second slide tongue (30) and the third slide tongue (38) can be placed nondisplaceably in a respective positioning relative to the housing body (52); and wherein after the second and third slide tongues (30, 38) have been positioned, the first slide tongue (8) can be positioned opposite the setting mark (35) at the window (34) of the second slide tongue (30) and then, at a value of the reading scale (42) as a reading mark, a value on the output scale (18) can be read out, which is equivalent to the amount of insulin to be injected.

Embodiments of the invention include a method of calculating a blood sugar level using a conversion guide including locating a hemoglobin A1c value on an insert disposed in a housing of the conversion guide; displaying the hemoglobin A1c value in a first window of the housing; and displaying a blood sugar value in a second window of the housing simultaneously with the hemoglobin A1c value. The blood sugar value may be a calculated value based on the hemoglobin A1c value.

摘要： A method and device for providing information for use in medical procedures such as rapid sequence intubation. The device may include a cover and a slide. The cover may include a listing of types of equipment and medications, whereas the slide may include equipment specifications and dosage information corresponding to a particular weight of a patient. The slide may be moved with respect to the cover to display the weight of a patient through a first window. The proper equipment specifications and dosages listed on the slide may then be displayed through the cover. Accordingly, proper equipment sizes and dosages may be easily determined. One side of the device may include information pertaining to adult populations, whereas the opposite side of the cover may include information pertaining to pediatric populations.

A reference scale is positioned near the start of the year for indicating the set point of the sliding scales and starting indicators are provided for calculating the starting day of each person's cycle in reference to his birthdate. A preferred embodiment has two scales such that the bio-rhythmic cycles of two persons may be compared to determine when they are compatible and incompatible.

摘要： An X-ray caliper is disclosed having upper, intermediate, and lower discs movable relative to each other, the upper and lower discs have arms extending therefrom between which the part of the anatomy to be x-rayed is positioned, the upper disc has a chart thereon of electrical current versus time and the intermediate disc has on the top surface thereof scales of peak kilovoltages and on the lower surface thereof a listing of various parts of the anatomy. When the part of the anatomy to be x-rayed has been measured and that part listed on the intermediate disc has been positioned relative to the lower disc, the peak kilovoltage range will appear opposite the chart on the upper disc and values of time, electrical current and the product thereof for various kilovoltages can be read therefrom for setting an x-ray machine. The chart can also be moved relative to the upper disc.
