摘要： Web objects, such as media files are sent through an adaptation server which includes a transcoder for adapting forwarded objects according to profiles of the receiving destinations, and a cache memory for caching frequently requested objects, including their adapted versions. The probability of additional requests for the same object before the object expires, is assessed by tracking hits. Only objects having experienced hits in excess of a hit threshold are cached, the hit threshold being adaptively adjusted based on the capacity of the cache, and the space required to store cached media files. Expired objects are collected in a list, and may be periodically ejected from the cache, or when the cache is nearly full.

The system determines whether objects associated with the object storage requests that have been aggregated fit in a block of the solid-state memory device within a defined tolerance. 摘要： A communication device reducing the processing time to install data on a disc storage medium onto multiple servers is provided. A protocol serializer 10 of a communication device 5 serializes read requests received from servers A1 to A2 for target data stored on a disc storage medium K in a processing order. A cache controller 11 determines whether the target data corresponding to the read requests are present in a cache memory 4 in the order of serialized read requests and, if present, receives the target data from the cache memory 4 via a memory controller 12. If not present, the cache controller 11 acquires the target data from the disc storage medium K via a DVD/CD controller 13. Then, the protocol serializer 10 sends the target data acquired by the cache controller 11 to the server of the transmission source of the read request corresponding to the target data.

摘要： Resource management techniques, such as cache optimization, are employed to organize resources within caches such that the most requested content (e.g., the most popular content) is more readily available. A service provider utilizes content expiration data as indicative of resource popularity. As resources are requested, the resources propagate through a cache server hierarchy associated with the service provider. More frequently requested resources are maintained at edge cache servers based on shorter expiration data that is reset with each repeated request. Less frequently requested resources are maintained at higher levels of a cache server hierarchy based on longer expiration data associated with cache servers higher on the hierarchy.
