    • A system, method, and computer program product for evaluating variant configuration using in-memory technology. Embodiments receive configuration data and a selection condition to be solved, bring Boolean selection condition expressions into disjunctive normal form (DNF) in memory, join concrete configuration values with the selection condition, and compare values. Embodiments aggregate the comparison results per AND-group with a minimum function, and aggregate those results per OR-group with a maximum function and output results of the selection condition for a concrete configuration. Embodiments may employ SQL Script statements. Embodiments may use conjunctive normal form (CNF) instead of DNF with corresponding aggregation ordering. Embodiments may extend the pure normal forms to enable calculations, string operations, evaluation of non-fixed-value literals, multi-valued literals, in-lists, and variant tables by translating and integrating them into the pattern of conjunctive and disjunctive aggregations. Parallelization and complexity-ordered branch evaluations are also provided.

    • One aspect related to design of systems and methods for manufacturing products that include technology in skilled areas is configuring a production station for use by an operator without specialized skills. The present invention contemplates an approach to designing a station configurable to perform one or more of incoming inspection, assembly, testing, and branding. A preferred approach includes verifying data associated with units prior to accepting them for incorporation, preventing incorporation of an incorrect unit, and guiding an operator in possible remedial action. This approach includes storing data in a server and making such data substantially instantly accessible to production stations once written in the server. Such data preferably includes software to configure the production station such that the operator need not have specialized skills. A production station designed using this approach is particularly useful in the manufacture of an outdoor unit of a split-mount microwave radio system.

    • A piston valve assembly for a damper comprises a piston having a central hole and a fluid passageway spaced from the hole. A deflection disc having a central aperture is aligned with the hole. A hub, common across different dampers, includes a neck that is arranged in the hole and the aperture of the deflection disc. A retainer abuts an unthreaded outer surface of the hub. During assembly, the retainer is received on the cylindrical outer surface in a slip fit relation and secured to the hub under a predetermined clamp load. Throughout the manufacturing process, components of the piston valve assembly are marked with identifying information that may be compared to other identifying information on the piston assembly throughout the manufacturing process to ensure integrity of the piston valve assembly. The piston valve assembly and other assemblies can be sent to another OEM facility near the customer to manufacture dampers that satisfy build requests for low volume dampers.
