    • A building information system and method processes building-related data associated with a building. The building-related data, including building management system data and configuration data associated with the building, is associatively stored in a database. A building management system service manages the building subsystem and provides the building management system data stored in the database. A data interface communicates the building-related data to the database. A client interface communicates the building-related data between a client application and the data interface. Other services includes a polling service for periodically detecting point data, a metering service for periodically detecting meter data, and a rates service providing real-time price control. A client/server architecture and consistent procedural interfaces facilitate integration of additional tools and devices.

    • The system and method of the invention automatically provide appropriate configuration and control software to a hardware system consisting of multiple target hardware modules. A system controller is connected to the target hardware modules and to a repository that stores a set of software modules. Each software module includes configuration and control information for a particular target hardware module. When a particular software control and configuration scheme for at least a portion of the target hardware modules is to be implemented in the hardware system, software modules corresponding to the particular software control and configuration scheme are selected and associated with a system definition file that is also stored in the repository. When the system definition file is invoked by the system controller, the system controller executes the associated software modules thereby providing the particular software control and configuration scheme to appropriate target hardware modules. When the particular software control and configuration scheme needs to be updated, one or more software modules of the system definition file may be replaced with an updated version without reconfiguring the hardware system.

    • A system for monitoring a process controlled by a user. A code generated by user input is paired with a code generated by the process in response to the user generated code. With reference to a master profile of code pairs, in the form of a variable file or look-up table, it is established whether the pair of codes are recognized as an appropriate pairing. In the case that the process generated code has not been recognized a false context state is established and, in the case in which a process generated code has been recognized, either a true context state is established if the recognized process generated code is deemed to have been produced in an appropriate context having regard to a correlation between the user generated input code and the corresponding code of the code master profile pair associated with the recognized process code, else a false context state is established. A raw activity record then stores an activity code specific to each recognized process generated code and the associated determined context state. The activity record may then be used as a basis for influencing the progress of the process.
