    • In a time measurement device (1000) having, at least, both a function of measuring standard time and a function of measuring any elapsed time, when a predetermined amount of time passes from a temporary suspension of a watch hand in position in the middle of the measurement of the elapsed time, the suspension of the watch hand is automatically released and the watch hand is driven to a watch hand position indicating the elapsed time. Provided thereby is the time measurement device which automatically releases the temporary suspension state in time measurement after the predetermined amount of time, thereby shortening the temporary suspension time and reducing power consumed to drive the watch hand to an originally expected watch hand position at the release of the temporary suspension.

    • A timing device including an internal motor which rotates a pointer on an elapsed time dial which indicates the time periods required for the performance of respective events and for indicating the differences between the time periods when each time period is successively indicated on a common dial. A drive mechanism is movable between two positions. In one position the single time dial is caused to indicate increments of time for performing a series of successive events while in the other position the same single dial is caused to indicate decrements of time of the previously recorded periods of time. A timing governor is provided as a part of the drive mechanism, so as to regulate the output speed of the drive mechanism.

    • A device for measuring a duration of a liquid discharge having a hollow receptacle. The receptacle has an inlet port adjacent its upper end to receive the liquid discharge, and a cup-shaped pan below the inlet port to receive the liquid passing through the inlet port. The pan has a bore extending through the pan at a lower portion thereof and has an upper edge to direct overflow from the pan into a lower part of the receptacle. The receptacle also has a chamber below the pan communicating with the pan bore to collect liquid from the pan passing through the bore and to measure the period of time of the liquid discharge as indicated by the height of liquid collected in the chamber. Means is provided to also determine the total volume of the liquid discharge, and the average flow rate of the discharge may be determined from the measured volume and the time period of the discharge.
