    • A compact electrographic reproduction apparatus having a mechanism for sequentially transporting an information-bearing source document and a receiver member along a common path. By such transport mechanism, the size and cost of the apparatus are reduced due to the elimination of duplicative transport elements. The reproduction apparatus includes a photoconductive member movable about a closed loop path and electrographic process stations located relative to such path. The transport mechanism defines a common path for a source document and a receiver member. Such path is associated with the electrographic process stations and the photoconductive member whereby, when a source document and receiver member are sequentially transported along such path, information from the source document is reproduced on the receiver member. Further size and cost reductions are effected by utilizing one process station to accomplish a plurality of electrographic functions.

    • An electrophotographic copying apparatus having a photoreceptor surface wound on a rotatory drum movable along a path relative to a plurality of actuable processing stations disposed along the path, in which apparatus the circumference of the photoreceptor drum is made as small as possible to an optically permissible extent so that two or more revolutions thereof completes one copying cycle with a rotatory metal cylinder forming a strong electrical field provided adjacent to a cleaning device for effective toner collection, thus contributing much to a compact size and light weight of the apparatus. The copying apparatus is further provided with a central suction device for efficient elimination of toner particles scattering in the apparatus, and heat or poisonous gases generated at various processing stations.

    • Disclosed is a copying machine using the same unit for commonly executing exposure and cleaning, while providing a copy of the original by causing the photoconductor to rotate through two revolutions. The copying machine sequentially executes operations including uniformly charging a photoconductor during its first revolution, image exposure via an exposure unit, forming a electrostatic latent image on the photoconductor, making the electrostatic latent visible via a developer unit and subsequent transfer of the developed image onto a copy paper, and cleaning of the residual toner from the photoconductor using the same developer unit during the second revolution of the photoconductor.The copying machine executes image exposure using an image exposure unit during the first revolution of the photoconductor and also executes an optical discharge by commonly using the image exposure unit at the same position during the second revolution of the photoconductor.

    • A two-cycle electrophotographic copying apparatus includes a rotatable charge retaining member, a charging device, an exposure mechanism, a developing device and a transferring device sequentially arranged around the charge retaining member in the direction of its rotation. During a first rotation of the charge retaining member, a toner image of an original is formed, and during the second rotation of the charge retaining member, the remaining toner is cleaned from the charge retaining member to prepare it for its next succeeding copying operation. The developing device comprises a first sleeve-like member for developing an electrostatic latent image on the surface of the charge retaining member during the first revolution thereof, and a second sleeve-like member for cleaning remaining toner from the surface of the charge retaining member during the second rotation of the charge retaining member and for suppying the removed developer to the first sleeve-like member during the first rotation of the charge retaining member. The second sleeve-like member is movable between first and second positions which correspond respectively to the first and second rotations of the charge retaining member.
