摘要： A lighting unite according to an embodiment includes a light source, a light guide plate, and a wavelength converting member. The light source is configured to emit primary light rays. The light guide plate includes a light entering surface through which the primary light rays enter, a light exiting surface through which the primary light rays exit, and a light reflecting and scattering pattern. The light reflecting and scattering pattern includes complementary color dots formed in edge areas of the opposite surface and white dots formed inner than the complementary color dots. The complementary color dots absorb primary light rays and exhibit a color that makes a complementary color pair with a reference color exhibited by the primary light rays. The white dots exhibit white color. The wavelength converting member covers the light exiting surface and passes some of the primary light rays to emit planar light.

The backlight module includes a back cover including an accommodation space in which a reflector, a light component, and a diffuser plate are placed in that order, wherein the light component includes a plurality of first Light Emitting Device (LED) devices and a plurality of second LED devices, wherein the second LED devices emit light at a smaller angle than the angle at which the first LED devices emit light, the first LED devices are arranged annularly and opposite in position to the periphery of the diffuser plate, and the second LED devices are located so that they are surrounded by the first LED devices. Since the first LED devices emit light at a larger angle, more light rays thereof will be incident on the edges of the diffuser plate to thereby improve effectively the phenomenon of dark strips at the edges of a picture of the backlight module; and since the second LED devices emit light at a relatively small angle, the light rays thereof can be incident on the diffuser plate while being more concentrated to thereby improve effectively the phenomena of low brightness, shadowiness, etc., of the picture of the backlight module.

摘要： A light emitting device (1) for illuminating a backlight device is provided. The device comprises an array (2) of light sources and at least one reflector (3a, 3b) arranged along an edge of the array (2) of light sources. The array is arranged with alternating first (4a, 5a) and second (4b, 5b) light sources, the first light sources (4a, 5a) emitting light of a first colour (G) and the second light sources (4b, 5b) emitting light of a second colour (P). The combined intensity of at least one light source (4a, 4b) arranged adjacent to the at least one reflector (3a, 3b) and its virtual image in the reflector is about 80-120% of the average intensity of the light sources (5a, 5b) of the same colour which are not arranged adjacent to the at least one reflector. The present invention further provides an edge lit or direct lit backlight device comprising such a light emitting device, the at least one reflector being at least one inner wall of the backlight device arranged along an edge of said array of light sources. A method of operating a light emitting device for illuminating a backlight device is also provided.
