摘要： This disclosure is directed to a device and a system for picking a target analyte of a suspension. A picker introduces at least one force, such as by a magnetic gradient and/or by a pressure gradient, to extract the target analyte from a specimen. The magnetic gradient may be introduced by a magnet, such as a permanent magnet or an electromagnet, and the pressure gradient may be introduced by a pump which moves within a fluid-primed cannula to create the pressure gradient, thereby drawing the target analyte into the cannula. The picker may also expel the target analyte onto or into a substrate, such as a well plate, after the target analyte has been drawn into the picker by reversing the pressure gradient or removing the magnetic gradient.

摘要： Improved methods and apparatus for providing a fluid flow and mounting system comprised a mounting nipple, a coupling for threaded engagement with a valve assembly, and a rigid flow line having preselected dimensions. The system of the present invention is particularly adapted for supporting a sampling pump from a pipe line, with the sampling pump including a manifold block having a pair of fluid ports for passing fluid in a hot-loop between the flow line and a sampling pump, and with the valve assembly being mounted to the flow line and including a pair of through passageways. The mounting nipple has a stop surface at each end thereof for engaging the manifold block and valve assembly, respectively, to fix the axial position of the manifold block with respect to the valve assembly. The coupling is rotatable about the mounting nipple for threaded engagement with mating threads on the valve body. With the mounting nipple fixed to the manifold, the sampling pump and mounting nipple may be rotated as an assembly with respect to the valve assembly until the outlet port in the manifold block achieves a preselected position with respect to the inlet port of the return fluid passageway in the valve assembly, and a rigid flow line having preselected dimensions is then used to interconnect these ports.

摘要： A sampling pump is provided suitable for pumping a discrete quantity of either a liquid or a gas per pump stroke from a flow line to a sample vessel. An operator unit drives a piston within the pump bore, and controls the stroke of the piston and thus the quantity of fluid pumped per stroke. A balanced check valve mechanism controls flow from the pump bore to the pump outlet port, and is provided within and carried by the piston. Line pressure acts on the operator end of the piston to assist the operator in driving the piston during its power stroke. A manifold may be secured to the pump body, and has a flow path therein which is in communication with the inlet port to the pump bore. The pump may also be used for injection purposes to introduce a selected quantity of fluid to a high pressure line.

摘要： A conveying device for conveying a viscous material from a container includes a follower plate that can be inserted into the container, and a pump by means of which the viscous material can be conveyed through the follower plate. Moreover, a measuring chamber for accommodation of a measuring sample of the viscous material is provided. The measuring chamber includes a closable material inlet opening for this purpose. A closable disposal line leads away from the measuring chamber. Moreover, a closable material return line extends from the measuring chamber via the follower plate into the container. The conveying device also includes a controller that is designed and can be operated appropriately such that it determines the compressibility of each of multiple measuring samples. The controller opens the disposal line or the material return line to the measuring sample present in the measuring chamber as a function of the compressibility thus determined.

摘要： An air sampling device is disclosed which includes one or more air sampling cassettes, with each cassette having a cassette internal diameter and a sample collection media disposed within the cassette internal diameter. The sum of the interior diameters of the air sampling cassettes is from about 2.5 mm to about 65 mm. The device also includes a sampling device casing having one or more air inlet orifices, an air outlet orifice, and an interior passageway in flow communication with both air inlet orifices and the air outlet orifice. One air sampling cassette is attached to each air inlet orifice. The device also includes a fan for drawing air through the air sampling cassettes and the interior passageway at an air flow rate. The device produces a noise level of less than 40 dBA, measured at a distance of 1 foot from the air outlet orifice, when the air flow rate is from about 0.5 to about 2.0 liters per minute. A method for air sampling is also disclosed.
