    • Powder coated heat exchange elements for a heat exchanger. Powder coating provides improved protective coating on surfaces of heat exchange elements. In many applications, the heat exchange elements are subjected to harsh operating conditions that promote corrosion. Traditional enamel coating tends to fracture when subjected to mechanical stresses thereby allowing corrosion inducing agents to penetrate and corrode the underlying surfaces. Powder coating reduces breaches in the protective layer. Powder coating may be adapted to withstand high temperatures so as to make them suitable for use in harsh operating environments. One such environment can be found in the processing of flue gas from fossil burning power generators, where the flue gas has a relatively high temperature and high sulfur content.

    • A regenerative heat exchanger for gaseous media which are in a heat exchange with one another includes stationary or rotating storage masses and at least one cleaning device for the storage masses, wherein the cleaning device can be pivoted in relation to the annular cross section of the storage masses from the inside toward the outside or vice versa. The regenerative heat exchanger can be used for the preheating of air as well as for the preheating of gas. The free end of a swivel arm of the cleaning device constructed as a blow tube has a bent portion which extends parallel to the plane of the storage masses and the bent portion is provided with at least two blow nozzles.

    • A rigid water conduit is manifold connected to a rotary swivel connection and receives high pressure water therefrom and supplies the water to a plurality of jet nozzles. The jet nozzles are rotated about an axis offset from the nozzles and reciprocating means are connected to the manifold for reciprocating the manifold and nozzles about the swivel connection. The swivel connection includes a housing with a water inlet adapted to be connected to a water pump with a hollow mandrel rotatable in the housing and connected to the manifold and having an opening in communication with the water inlet. A bearing and a seal are provided between the mandrel and the housing on each side of the opening whereby the mandrel may be easily rotated. A track is positioned generally transverse to the manifold and a carriage movable on the track includes a pivoting support having bearings for supporting the mandrel but allowing movement of the mandrel transverse to the carriage. A lead screw is connected to the carriage for reciprocating the carriage and limit switches are positioned for limiting the extent of travel of the carriage in opposite directions. Air motors actuate the lead screw and rotate the jet nozzles. The jet nozzles include a body having a passageway in communication with the nozzles and are carried by a rotating mandrel in a housing which is in fluid communication with the manifold. Bearings and seals between the mandrel and the housing allow the mandrel to be easily rotated by a motor.

    • A nozzle configuration capable of handling several cleaning mediums including two sets of discharge nozzles, each of which is associated with a respective cleaning medium. The first nozzle set discharges cleaning medium fluid of relatively higher pressure, while the second nozzle set has nozzles of relatively larger throat diameter for the discharge of relatively lower pressure medium. The nozzles of the second set are arranged coaxially with and downstream from the nozzles of the first set, whereby cleaning medium fluid discharged from the first nozzle set passes through the throats of the nozzles of the second set without substantial obstruction therein.
