    • The invention relates to a reactor for gasifying and/or melting feed materials, comprising the following: a delivery section (1) by which means the feed materials are introduced; a pyrolysis section (8), which adjoins the preceding section, hereby expanding the cross-section; gas supply means (10) which open into the pyrolysis section (8) approximately at the level of the expanded cross-section and by which means hot gases are supplied to a discharge cone (9); a melting and overheating section (14) which adjoins the pyrolysis section (8); upper feeding-in means (15) for introducing a medium that is rich in energy into the melting and overheating section (14); a reduction section (20) comprising gas extraction means (21), by which means excess gases are extracted; a hearth (25) which is situated beneath the reduction section (20), for collecting and diverting molten metals and slag; and lower feeding-in means (26), by which means a medium that is rich in energy is introduced directly above the melts and below the gas extraction means (21). The invention also relates to a method for gasifying and/or melting feed materials.

    • A plant for burning waste which has a main combustion chamber to be chargedith the waste to be burnt and with fresh gases for burning the waste. From this main combustion chamber the burnt material and unburnt residual material including gases pass through a grate into a post-combustion chamber, the bottom of which is adapted to be closed, and which has lateral outlets for the waste gas. The post-combustion chamber which has a volume at least equalling the volume of the main combustion chamber has a wall structure extending from above into said post-combustion chamber for guiding gases passing through the grate toward the bottom of the post-combustion chamber. This wall structure is open at its lower end and is of highly heat resistant material as e.g. steel. The post-combustion chamber has a waste gas outlet through which the waste gas from the post-combustion chamber is discharged after it has, prior thereto, been purified by passing through filters between an outer wall and inner wall of the post-combustion chamber.

    • A low-pollutant system for waste materials treatment includes a process chamber for converting organic components of the waste materials into a flammable gas and a two-stage vortex burning chamber for complete combustion of the flammable gas. The vortex burning chamber includes a first substantially-horizontal combustion chamber and a second substantially-vertical combustion chamber disposed at a right angle to each other and communicating therebetween. The first combustion chamber has an inlet portion for receiving the flammable combustion gas from the gas generator means for injecting primary air into the first combustion chamber, thereby forming a mixture of air and the flammable gas and thereby igniting the mixture for partial oxidation thereof. The first combustion chamber has a converging distal portion for discharging the partially-oxidized mixture of air and the flammable gas tangentially into the second combustion chamber, where the gas is mixed with the secondary air which is injected tangentially into the second combustion chamber, thereby substantially completely oxidizing the partially-oxidized mixture of air and the flammable gas. The second combustion chamber has an outlet portion for discharge of the waste gas resulting from the two-stage combustion of the flammable gas and the solids separated from the gas. The system has a pivoting grate with an angled flat roof with slots and paddles; and a coke bed for the cracking of pyrolysis of gases disposed under said roof.

    • An incinerator includes a furnace body which confines a combustion chamber for receiving refuse therein and which has a bottom wall formed with a central opening, an ash release gate mounted pivotally to the bottom wall at the central opening, a stack which is provided on one side of the furnace body and which has a lower end part that is communicated with the combustion chamber adjacent to the bottom wall, and an exhaust port provided adjacent to an open top of the furnace body and operable so as to communicate the stack and the combustion chamber. A furnace cover is provided on the open top of the furnace body. First and second preheating tube arrangements are received in the lower part of the furnace body. The first preheating tube arrangement includes a plurality of upwardly extending concentric coil turns and has a surface formed with a plurality of air holes. The second preheating tube arrangement has at least a portion provided adjacent to a lower end part of the first preheating tube arrangement and further has a surface formed with a plurality of air holes. A high pressure air generating unit supplies high pressure air to the first and second preheating tube arrangements and to an upper end part of the stack.
