    • A display including a body and an elevation adjusting base is provided. The elevation adjusting base is secured to the body. The elevation adjusting base includes a base, an elevation adjusting mechanism, an outer bushing, an inner bushing and a friction ring. The elevation adjusting mechanism is connected to the base. The outer bushing is connected to the base and mounted on the elevation adjusting mechanism. The inner bushing is embedded inside the outer bushing. The friction ring is disposed between the outer bushing and the inner bushing. After the elevation of the elevation adjusting mechanism is adjusted, the friction ring provides a friction force between the outer bushing and the inner bushing to fix the elevation of the elevation adjusting mechanism. Users can accurately adjust the elevation of the display panel according to the view-angle and personal preferences.

    • Methods and apparatus for providing an adjustable balancing force are provided. This mechanism can be used as a lifting force, a counter balancing mechanism or as a horizontal or other force mechanism. The force can be designed to be constant or variable over the range of motion by properly calculating the shape of the cam member. A balancing mechanism in accordance with the present invention includes a wheel comprising a pulley member and a cam member. A first cable connects the cam member of the wheel to a energy source for biasing the wheel to rotate in a first direction. A second cable is connected to the pulley member of the wheel for communicating a balancing or load force to the wheel. In some useful embodiments of the present invention, the cam member is shaped and positioned so that a torque applied to the wheel by the first cable is substantially constant while a force applied to the wheel by the first cable varies.

    • A locking mechanism for a telescoping support, such as a tripod leg, which includes an outer tubular section and a slidable inner tubular section is disclosed. The locking mechanism includes a U-shaped mounting bracket conforming to the cross-sectional shape of the outer tubular section and is held against sliding movement along the outer section by lip portions bent outwardly on either side of the bracket. The bracket is further retained against separation from the outer tubular section by a camming lever pivotably mounted between the two arms of the bracket on the side of the leg section opposite the base portion of the bracket, thereby closing the opening of the bracket. The camming lever is pivotable for cammingly engaging the inner tubular section through a window opening formed in the outer tubular section, thereby to lock the two sections against telescoping movement.
