摘要： Provided is an element that allows being rigidly joined to a metal plate without adding a shape difficult to machine (a shape required for joining) in advance. An element 1 includes a flange-shaped part 2 and a columnar part 3 having a smaller diameter than the flange-shaped part 2. In a state where the columnar part 3 is inserted into an insertion hole 12 drilled in the metal plate 11, by applying pressure in an axial direction to deform and flow the metal plate 11 in a compression direction at the flange-shaped part 2 and to deform a part at a distal end edge of the columnar part 3 to expand in diameter to receive a deformed and flowed metal, so as to allow the element 1 to be joined to the metal plate 11 made of metal.

摘要： A method for coupling a first structure to a second structure is disclosed. The method includes providing a rivet having a shaft with a first end and a second end, a head positioned at the first end, and a cavity formed in the second end and extending along an axis of the shaft. The method also includes positioning the first structure and the second structure against each other and inserting the second end through the first structure and the second structure until the head contacts the first structure and the second end extends past the second structure. The method further includes positioning a first flat tool and a second flat tool against the head and the second end, respectively, and moving the first flat tool and the second flat tool toward each other until the second end expands radially against the second structure.

摘要： A punch rivet for joining two workpieces, has a head and a shank. The shank is a hollow shank with a shank internal diameter (D3), a shank external diameter (D1) and a shank end face. On the shank end face is a ring cutting edge with the diameter (D4) that is smaller than the shank external diameter (D1) but greater than the shank internal diameter (D3). The ring cutting edge is radially spaced both from the shank external diameter (D1) and from the shank internal diameter (D3) by at least 20% of the radial shank wall thickness (M5). And the ratio D3/D1 of shank internal diameter D3 to shank external diameter D1 is smaller than 0.6.

摘要： A blind rivet including a sleeve and a flange on one end of the sleeve, and a mandrel including a shaft and a head, the head having a cutting edge for cutting open the sleeve. The sleeve of the rivet body has a thick portion, and a thin which has an inner diameter larger than the thick portion. The shaft of the mandrel has a large diameter portion, a middle diameter portion, a small diameter portion having an outer diameter smaller than the middle diameter portion, and a securing and attaching groove which is between the middle diameter portion and the small diameter portion. When the blind rivet is fastened, the middle diameter portion of the mandrel causes the material of the thick portion to undergo metal flow and to flow into the securing and attaching groove, enabling the mandrel to be tightly secured to the rivet body.
