    • A method of operating an internal combustion engine system includes passing exhaust gases from an engine to an aftertreatment device such as a particulate filter at an exhaust temperature less than a target temperature, and increasing a temperature of exhaust gases passing through the aftertreatment device to the target temperature by controllably restricting exhaust flow upstream the filter. The method still further includes generating a signal indicative of exhaust back pressure and reducing exhaust pressure by selectively reducing airflow to the engine responsive to the signal. An internal combustion engine system and associated control system includes an electronic control unit configured to selectively increase a temperature of exhaust gases passing through a particulate filter to a regeneration temperature via a variable flow restriction device. The electronic control unit is further configured to reduce exhaust pressure upstream the flow restriction device by commanding adjusting an intake airflow control element for the engine responsive to a signal corresponding to exhaust back pressure.

    • A tailpipe decoration has a hollow tubular housing, an axle mounted within the housing, and a first and second set of turbine blades. Each set of turbine blades has a hub with a number of radially mounted turbine blades. The first and second sets of turbine blades are mounted on the axle. Housing connectors mounted on the housing connect the housing to a tailpipe when the housing connectors are engaged. The tailpipe decoration can also have a plurality of electric generators, each with a coil portion and a magnet portion, the magnet portion mounted on either the first or second hub and the coil portion mounted on the housing or a hub so that electric current is generated with the rotation of a hub for illuminating LEDs or the like within the housing.

    • The apparatus for burning the contaminated soot particles in the exhaust gases of diesel motors of vehicles comprising in the exhaust gas line a housing with a burner operated with a fuel/air mixture for burning the contaminated particles in the exhaust gas flow. The housing comprises a rotatably supported hollow cylinder through which the exhaust gases flow. The housing and the hollow cylinder bound the combustion space of the burner, wherein the hollow cylinder comprises drive vanes and the exhaust gases of the diesel motor and/or the exhaust gases of the burner act upon the drive vanes and wherein the exhaust gases of the burner heat the hollow cylinder up to the combustion temperature of the soot particles. The arrangement can be also made in such a way, that the exhaust gases and/or the combustion gases of the burner flow through bores into the perforated hollow cylinder and exit through the one open end face of the perforated hollow cylinder.
