    • A structure vibration control device includes a hydraulic damper having damping force characteristics that vary in response to a magnitude of an earthquake and having characteristics that are maintained for a long period of time regardless of an environmental temperature change. The hydraulic damper includes a preload chamber into which a high-pressure gas is charged in series with a hydraulic chamber. The preload chamber absorbs a volume change of the hydraulic chamber caused by the environmental temperature change and a piston rod and balances a bias force of a spring within the hydraulic chamber and of the preload chamber. Piston valves have high damping force characteristics against a weak earthquake and low damping force characteristics against a strong earthquake. The piston valves may include an orifice beside a check valve function, by which the high damping force characteristics lie within a range of 150 to 800 kN/(m/sec).

    • The present invention relates to an axially yielding elasto-plastic hysteresis brace including an H-section steel as a steel core, a buckling-restraining member covering an outer periphery of the H-section steel, an unbonded layer filled between the steel core and the buckling-restraining member, and a square steel pipe covering the outer periphery of the buckling-restraining member for reinforcement. For both ends of the H-section steel, one reinforcing plate is welded to each outer surface of each flange so as to be overlapped therewith. The buckling-restraining member is installed so that each reinforcing plate is inserted to the buckling-restraining member through an end thereof by a predetermined length L. And, where the width of the H-section steel as a steel core is given as B and the height thereof is given as H, an insertion length L of each reinforcing plate is set in a range of 2B≦L≦3B and also 2H≦L≦3H.

    • A stay-in-place lining is provided for lining a structure fabricated from concrete. The lining comprises a plurality of panels connectable via complementary connector components on their longitudinal edges. Each panel comprises a first connector component on a first longitudinal edge thereof and a second (complementary) connector component on a second longitudinal edge thereof. The lining comprises at least one edge-to-edge connection between the first connector component of a first panel and the second connector component of a second panel, the edge-to-edge connection comprising a protrusion of the first panel extended into a receptacle of the second panel through a receptacle opening. The receptacle is shaped to prevent removal of the protrusion from the receptacle and the receptacle is resiliently deformed by the extension of the protrusion into the receptacle to thereby apply a restorative force to the protrusion to maintain the edge-to-edge connection.
