摘要： A heat transfer roll for producing sheet material, particularly material having a cross-section whose thickness varies across the width of a sheet being formed, includes a journal on which the roll is rotatably supported, and at least two cooling channels at the surface of the roll that can be supplied with various fluids at various flow rates and temperatures. Fluid in the first and second channels flows at predetermined longitudinal positions at the roll surface. The first channel includes cylindrical spiral portions and the second channel includes a circular cylindrical channel located between the spiral portions. A diverter provides hydraulic flow continuity across the second flow channel to first and second portions of the first flow channel. Risers carry fluid radially outward to the flow channels at the outer surface of the roll.

The ambient air is preheated by using it to cool the rich solution of the heat pump.

摘要： A rotary cylinder for use in a calender has a roller with a hollow cylindrical sleeve and two trunnions secured to the end portions of the sleeve. The roller contains a coaxial displacing component which defines with the sleeve an annular clearance for the flow of a cooling or heating fluid, such fluid being admitted through one of the trunnions and being evacuated through the one or the other trunnion. One or more prestressed elastic cushions are interposed between the displacing component and the roller to compensate for and to counteract eventual radial and or axial movements of a portion of or the entire displacing component as a result or unequal heating or cooling of the roller and displacing component. A single cushion may constitute a hollow conical frustum or a hollow cylinder. If the roller contains several cushions, such cushions may constitute discrete disks or ribs which are integral with the displacing component and contact the internal surface of the sleeve.

摘要： The disclosed cylinder for heat-treating a web is rotatable about a horizontal axis and is heated by one or multiple stationary infrared burners that extend all along the length of the cylinder, but which are limited to an arcuate extent, establishing a maximum cylinder heat output when the burner(s) is (are) supplied with air-fuel mixture at their maximum rate. Reduction of the air-fuel supply rate over a wide range allows the cylinder heat output to be reduced as the web processing speed is reduced. When the burner is divided into segments, the temperature profile along the cylinder; i.e., across the width of the web, can be regulated to adjust the moisture profile of the web. An exhaust manifold within and along the cylinder is configured so as to avoid any local accumulation of high-temperature exhaust.

摘要： The end portions of a rotary shell forming part of a calendar roll can be heated or cooled by a suitable (gaseous or hydraulic) fluid which is admitted into axially parallel first channels of the shell. Such channels can extend from end face to end face of the shell or only in the region of one end face each. The first channels receive the fluid from second channels which extend radially inwardly to the internal surface of the shell, and spent fluid is admitted into third channels which extend from the respective first channels to the internal surface of the shell. The first channels accommodate axially adjustable throttles which are used to regulate the rate of fluid flow in the shell and to thus regulate the temperature of the respective end portions of the shell.

摘要： A roll for processing material in the form of a web or strip consists of a cylindrical hollow body of metal, in the cylinder wall of which there is provided a helical medium passage through which a heating or cooling medium can flow. In order to avoid sealing problems in the region of the cylinder wall and to achieve a high heating or cooling performance, the cylinder wall is formed from a cast metal tube and the helical medium passage is formed from a spiral tube of a metal having a distinctly higher melting temperature in comparison with that of the cyinder wall, the spiral tube being rigidly embedded in the cylinder wall during casting thereof. The cylinder wall consists particularly advantageously of a centrifugally cast tube, preferably of aluminium, in the wall of which the spiral tube is included in the casting.
