    • The invention relates to a treatment article and a method for treating a fabric by delivering one or more powdered benefit agents to a fabric in a tumble dryer and thus providing at least one fabric benefit such as sanitization and/or disinfection, whitening and/or stain removal to the fabric during the tumble drying process. The treatment article functions to dispense at least one powdered benefit agent to the fabric by means of a diffusing membrane having an average pore diameter such that the tumbling and/or heating action provided during the tumble drying process results in the delivery of an oxidant material in the form of a powdered benefit agent to the initially damp or wet fabric to provide at least one primary fabric benefit to the treated fabric. Optionally, a second and/or third benefit agent may additionally be included in the treatment article for simultaneous delivery of one or more additional fabric benefits. The invention also relates to a treatment kit employing a treatment article with instructions for the effective delivery of one or more fabric benefits to a fabric during a tumble drying process.

    • A fabric treatment composition that includes at least one zeta potential modifier and a hydrophobic agent with a melting point or glass transition temperature below 100° C. that imparts fabric protection benefits, including improved stain and soil resistance, oil repellency, water repellency, softness, wrinkle and damage resistance, and better handfeel to treated fabrics. Treatment compositions can be used as a pretreatment prior to washing, through soaking, or added to the treatment liquor, that is either the wash or rinse cycle of an automatic washing machine, to first provide and then maintain and restore the beneficial fabric protection benefits imparted to the fabrics during a first treatment operation. The fabric treatment is complete when the fabric is cured by drying and/or heating. Following use of a first treatment composition, protective benefits are maintained and restored by means of a second treatment operation employing a second treatment composition with lower active levels of the protective agents to provide for economical and continual maintenance of the imparted fabric protection benefits through a delivered second fabric treatment benefit with each subsequent treatment operation employing the fabric treatment compositions.

    • A flame-retardant composition has a plurality of particles with a plurality of porosities formed therein, a flame retardant gas occupying the porosities, and a matrix material in which said particles are dispersed. It provides a sealant applied to at least a portion of the particles, wherein the sealant substantially prevents the gas from escaping the porosities. The matrix is a flame-retardant composition adapted to be applied to various surfaces. At least one of the matrix and the particles is formed of a material that will break down and release the gas in the presence of water. At least one of the matrix and the particles is formed of a material that will break down and release the gas in the presence of flame. The sealant may be a polymer material. This solves the problem of applying flame-retardant qualities to various surfaces.
