The ironing board system includes said ironing board and a wing shaped attachment with an edge having an arc complementary to the arcs of the ironing board. The wing shaped attachment is adapted to detachably couple to said ironing board at any of the three adjacent arcs to extend the ironing surface. The ironing board may comprise a rotatable iron rest, and a braking mechanism for restraining the ironing board in open and closed positions.
