摘要： The pressurization and depressurization of a container, and specifically a feed hopper for materials to be delivered to the interior of a blast furnace, is accomplished with the aid of pressure equalization devices which each include a valve and a wear and sound reducing mechanism immediately downstream of the valve. The wear and sound reduction mechanism subdivides the stream of gas, which may contain entrained particulate matter, into a plurality of jets which are caused to follow a zig-zag trajectory.

摘要： A damper assembly for high temperature or corrosive gases including a flow through housing with a damper blade disposed therein, the damper blade including a metallic plate member attached to a transversely extending support member which extends through openings in the side walls of the housing. The plate member includes means for receiving refractory thereon wherein the refractory substantially covers the plate member and is divided into a plurality of preselected sections, each section being separated by a material having a relatively low disintegrating temperature whereby upon initial heating of the damper assembly to temperatures higher than the disintegrating temperature of the relatively low disintegrating material, the said material disintegrates thereby leaving spacing in the refractory for expansion and contraction over a wide range of temperatures.

摘要： A valve arranged to close an end of a conduit through which hot, pressurized gas is vented on opening of the valve, especially a blow off valve in a blast furnace, has a U-shaped yoke embracing the conduit with the free ends of its arms mounted for pivoting about an axis which is fixed relative to the conduit and is spaced along the conduit from the said end. At the other end of its arms, the yoke carries a valve closure member which seats on a valve seat to close the conduit, biassing means resiliently urging the closure member into engagement with the valve seat, and lifting means operable to move the closure member away from the valve seat. The closure member and biassing and lifting means can thus be moved out of the venting gas stream by pivoting of the yoke.

摘要： A pressure relief valve system has a fluid outlet (1) from a pressure vessel; a flexible expansion piece (4) at an end of the fluid outlet remote from the pressure vessel; a primary pressure relief valve has a valve seat and a valve lid (7). The valve seat has a flange (5) mounted on the expansion piece and the valve lid forms a valve seal with the flange. A fluid off-take (13) is connected to the fluid outlet (1) and a secondary pressure relief valve (11) receives fluid from the fluid off-take. The secondary pressure relief valve has an outlet (12) coupled to a valve opening actuator (15), whereby passage of fluid through the secondary pressure relief valve (11) causes the opening actuator to operate to open the valve lid (7).

It comprises a bleeder valve (20) having a fixed hollow valve body (22) defining an outlet (26) and a valve seat and a movable obturator (24) that cooperates with the valve seat for closing the bleeder valve and releasing blast furnace off-gas through the outlet. The arrangement includes an apparatus for combustion of blast furnace off-gas released by the bleeder valve (20). This apparatus is characterized by an ignition device (32, 38, 40, 42, 44) that is arranged on or adjacent the valve body or the moveable obturator of the bleeder valve (20) itself. The ignition device (32, 38, 40, 42, 44) has its spatial ignition range located downstream the outlet in a region where blast furnace off-gas released through the outlet mixes with ambient air when the obturator is in an open position so as to allow open-air combustion of blast furnace off-gas released into ambient air at the location of the bleeder valve.

摘要： A valve actuator, for example a mechanism for imparting motion to a blast furnace evacuation valve, includes a force generator which is coupled to the valve member by a displacement mechanism including a pivotal lever and a pivot arm. The pivotal lever has a pair of angularly related arms with the free end of one arm being coupled to the force generator and the free end of the second arm being coupled to a point on the pivot arm intermediate the ends thereof by a connecting rod or rods. 摘要： Bleeder valve apparatus for blast furnaces are disclosed in which valve parts subject to wear or erosion by abrasive-laden gas are readily accessible from the top of the apparatus for replacement or repair, without the necessity of removing supporting levers or other parts that impair access from the top. The valve members are supported and actuated from below to leave the tops of the valve members accessible. The valve apparatus, which may be either of the outer opening type or inner opening type, also comprises a movable valve member having two seats and a cooperating stationary member or body having two seats, one of the seats of each member being a primary seat that can be removed for repair or replacement. When the primary seats are removed, the remaining seats of the members can engage to prevent flow of gas out of the valve.
