摘要： In accordance with one embodiment, a process is described for a water treatment process in which process water is treated with recycled biochar. In accordance with one aspect, process water is passed through activated carbon generated by the biomass pyrolysis and gasification. In accordance with another aspect, the process water is treated to expel gaseous compounds within the process water. In this manner both inorganics, light organics and heavy organics can be removed from the process water. No fermentation is involved.

The system also includes a black water treatment system fluidly coupled to the gasifier. The black water treatment system is configured to treat the black water to generate a grey water. The black water treatment system includes a first flash tank configured to process the black water by reducing a pressure of the black water to generate a first discharged black water. The black water treatment system also includes a first flow path fluidly coupling a first discharged black water outlet of the first flash tank with a feedstock preparation system configured to generate the fuel slurry in order to provide at least a first portion of the first discharged black water of the first flash tank to the feedstock preparation system.

摘要： The invention relates to the use of biomethanol from the pulp industry in the production of biohydrogen. The preferred biomethanol comprises purified biomethanol derived from black liquor. The invention also relates to a process for the production of biohydrogen from crude biomethanol recovered from black liquor and to a process for producing hydrocarbon biofuel using such biohydrogen as a hydrogen source. The invention further relates to a biofuel production facility for producing fuel from biohydrogen and biohydrocarbon, and to biofuel so produced. The invention makes it possible to produce a biofuel, wherein 100% of the raw material stems from non-fossil sources.

The feed preparation section is configured to grind the fuel to a predetermined size and to adjust the moisture content within the particulate fuel. The pressurization and conveyance section is coupled in flow communication with the feed preparation section, and includes at least one solids pump configured to receive a flow of the particulate fuel at a first pressure and discharge the particulate fuel at a second pressure. The slag additive section is configured to feed a slag additive mixture into the gasifier and to substantially control the total water content within the gasification system.

In operation, the feed stream is washed with the wash fluid stream in the separation unit to separate at least a portion of the ash from the coal. The separated ash settles to the bottom portion of the vessel and is conveyed via the second outlet as the ash-rich stream. The separated coal floats to the top portion of the vessel and is conveyed via the first outlet to a gasification unit as the low-ash feed stream.

摘要： A method and apparatus for generating electrical energy from combustion of biomass is provided. The present invention provides both liquid-phase and gas-phase fuel to an internal combustion engine that is designed to run on both types of fuel. Scrubbing syngas generated in an updraft gasifier with a first petrochemical-based liquid fuel reduces the concentration of tars in the syngas stream and also enables absorption of tars from the syngas into the first liquid fuel. After absorption, the tars form a second liquid fuel that is suitable for direct use in the internal combustion engine. As a result, the syngas provided to the engine is substantially free of tars and the volume of liquid fuel available to the engine is increased.

The aqueous phase can be introduced to a stripper to provide steam and a condensate, and the steam can then be introduced to the gasifier.
