摘要： According to one aspect of the present disclosure, a cold seal adhesive material is disclosed. The cold seal adhesive material includes a latex emulsion comprising between 15 to 65 percent of the adhesive by weight and ammoniated water. The adhesive viscosity is between 10 and 450 centipoise at 25 degrees Celsius, the density is between 8.0 and 9.0 pounds per gallon at 25 degrees Celsius, and the basicity is between 9.5 and 12 pH. The adhesive is adapted to be applied as a film on a substrate by a modified flexographic printing press process at a rate of at least 1,750 square feet per minute of the substrate without agglomeration of the adhesive, where the film has a film weight between 0.01 and 0.04 grams per square inch of the substrate and must be compressed with a sealing pressure to produce a cohesive bond between two or more adhesive regions.

The self seal adhesive system is comprised of a transfer adhesive disposed on a transfer web and an anchor adhesive disposed on an anchor web with the two adhesives forming the seal for the package. The self seal adhesives bond to themselves when pressure is applied to close or seal the packaging material. When peeled apart, the adhesive splits, adhesively fails from either or both the front web or the back web, or destroys one or both of the substrates of the package. Primer coatings may also be used to enhance performance of the self seal adhesive.

Such treatment comprises application to the yarn of an aqueous emulsion of polyester and/or epoxy adhesive, or an aqueous alkaline dispersion of rubber latex and resorcinol-formaldehyde resin adhesive, wherein said adhesive contains a minor amount of particulate, water insoluble starch composite of starch and water insoluble plasticizer therefor. Such yarns may be in a form of a cord comprised of a plurality of yarns. The invention further relates to such treated yarns. The invention additionally relates to such treated yarns and a composite of rubber and said treated yarns. The invention additionally relates to an article of manufacture such, as for example, a rubber tire, having at least one component comprised of said composite.

摘要： The invention describes both a method for bonding at least two elastomeric substrates together, wherein one of the substrates is a tire casing and another substrate is a tire tread, and an aqueous color changeable adhesive for effecting the bonding. The method includes the steps of buffing at least one surface of at least one of the substrates to an RMA 2 or RMA 3, applying the color changeable aqueous adhesive to the at least one surface, drying the adhesive for at least a period of time to permit an initial light grey color of the adhesive as applied to change to a flat black, and contacting the substrates under pressure to bond the substrates together. The color changeable aqueous adhesive includes at least a rubber latex emulsion, a tackifier, a pH adjustment agent, and a carbon black emulsion, wherein the carbon black functions both as a reinforcing agent and a visible color indicia means for evaluating the degree of dryness of the adhesive, which correlates to the degree of tack of the adhesive. The carbon black is a lampblack.

摘要： The adhesive composition of the invention exhibits an adequately controlled adhesive bonding strength when paper sheets coated therewith are bonded together to be adaptable to subsequent separation of the bonded sheets of paper by peeling. The essential ingredients of the adhesive composition include: (a) a rubber latex; (b) a silica gel powder having a specified average particle diameter; and (c) a starch, preferably, having a specified particle diameter, e.g. wheat starch, each in a specified weight proportion. In addition to the good balance between the reliability of the adhesive bonding and subsequent peelability, the paper sheet coated with the adhesive composition is prevented from a decrease in the adhesiveness even when the surface is contaminated with a silicone oil and from the troubles due to blocking when adhesive-coated sheets are stacked one on the other with the adhesive-coated surfaces in direct contact with each other.

摘要： Phenolic aldehyde resins used in adhesive coatings for binding substrates to rubber are modified to provide better adhesion and to decrease the problem of blowholes on the substrate coated with the adhesive coating. The resin is modified by incorporating into the resin a compound selected from the group consisting of urea, thiourea, thionamide having one to six carbon atoms or mixture thereof. In the method of preparing the modified phenolic aldehyde resin about 1 to about 10 weight percent based on the resin is added to the aqueous solution either simultaneously with or sequentially after the addition of the phenolic compond and aldehyde. The modified phenolic resin is then combined with an elastomeric latex or latices to produce the improved adhesive coating.
