摘要： An apparatus and method for filling textile material into containers having an elongate cross-section, contemplates suspending each container by releasable holder elements secured to displacement devices. Advantageously further provided for each container, during the filling operation, is an external elevation positioning device which can be releasably coupled with the container to be filled with textile material. A displacement device moves the container which is being filled beneath a coiler to deposit loops of the textile material into the container. A device serves to automatically remove the filled containers and a further device delivers empty containers which are to filled.

摘要： In combination with a sliver coiler and can changer apparatus, a sliver compactor and severing device is provided which concurrently compacts coiled sliver and separates, parts or severs through attenuation the ultimate strand portion extending between the filled sliver can and the coiler. The combination is provided with control means which coordinates the elements to stop can filling upon sensing that a predetermined amount of sliver has been delivered to the can, to exchange the filled can for an empty one beneath the coiler and position the filled can beneath the compactor plate or ram of the means, to compact the sliver at a specified rate wherein sliver disruption is avoided while, through a safety shroud, covering the space between the can rim and the compactor spectacle plate, to restart sliver coiling in the empty can while maintaining compaction of the sliver in the filled can, and then to withdraw the plate from the filled can at a predetermined time prior to completion of filling the second and formerly empty can.

摘要： Moulding flask adapted to be used in a process for forming a mould comprising steps of disposing, at the opening of the moulding flask, a pattern having a shield membrane of synthetic resin on the outer surface thereof, filling the space defined between the moulding flask and the pattern with particulate filler material such as sand, and applying negative pressure to the filler material so that the filler material is subjected to an external pressure to make a mould, said moulding flask having at least one surface on an intermediate partition surface formed by an impervious resilient membrane which is supported by a support member whereby, when the filler material is subjected to the negative pressure, the external pressure is applied to the resilient membrance which then presses the filler material so as to enhance compacting of the mould thus producing a strong and precise casting mould.

Sections of the tow are alternately twisted to give helix angles varying from greater than 45.degree. in an S direction to greater than 45.degree. in a Z direction. The helix angle of the tow is increased by impacting it into layers of tow previously laid down. Removal of tow from the package is improved.
