摘要： A load transporting apparatus is described including: a main body; a ground engaging wheel positioned at or towards one end of the main body and supported for rotation about a generally horizontal axis; a support member, which is connected to the main body, and which supports a pair of wheel assemblies, each assembly including a wheel which is supported for rotation about a generally horizontal wheel axis, wherein said wheel assembly permits the wheel to swivel about a swivel axis which is substantially perpendicular to the wheel axis and off-set therefrom; wherein the support member is connected to the main body by connection means which permits movement of the main body towards and away from the support member. Also described is an apparatus where the or a further connection means is configured to permit rotation of the support member relative to the main body about an axis which extends generally in a fore-aft direction of the apparatus.

A pivot is coupled to the mount at an angle between vertical and horizontal. An offset sleeve is rotatably coupled to the pivot. An axle is coupled to an outer diameter of the offset sleeve. At least one wheel is coupled to the axle. A pivot support is coupled to the pivot and to the mount. When the offset sleeve is positioned with the axle coupled to a distal side of the offset sleeve, the axle rotates and when the offset sleeve is positioned with the axle coupled to a proximal side of the offset sleeve, the axle's rotation is limited. The offset sleeve may be rotated in order to switch the side of the offset sleeve to which the axle is coupled.

The wheel float has a pair of walking beam assemblies, a crosstube assembly having a crosstube interconnecting the walking beam assemblies, a pedestal supported by the crosstube and a center pivot assembly that allows the crosstube assembly to pivot relative to the pedestal. The pedestal has a support surface that supports the object above the walking beam assemblies. Each walking beam assembly has a base plate, wheeled casters, a pair of spaced apart hangers and a bushing assembly associated with an articulation opening in each of the hangers. Pivot members at the ends of the crosstube assembly engage the hanger bushings to allow the respective walking beam assembly to pivot relative to the crosstube. Thrust blocks or locating plates position the walking beam assemblies on the crosstube assembly.

The dependent suspensions are tiltable around a longitudinal axis of the chassis to keep the chassis leveled while all of the wheels are in contact with the ground, and to provide ground clearance during use.
