摘要： An apparatus for visually guiding the occupants of a structure in a path of travel along the floor within a structure is provided. This apparatus is comprised of a carpet overlying the floor, and a lighting strip positioned underneath the carpet. The lighting strip comprises an elongate ribbon, with a group of laterally spaced-apart electrical conductors encased in and extending longitudinally of the ribbon of sheet material. A series of light-transmissive plastic housings are connected to and arranged longitudinally along a common outer surface of the ribbon of plastic sheet material. Light-emitting means are positioned within each of the housings, and are electrically connected to predetermined ones of the group of electrical conductors encased in the ribbon of sheet material. The carpet has holes extending therethrough which are arranged in a series corresponding to the series of light-transmissive housings on the lighting strip. The housings are positioned in the holes of the carpet so that when the light-emitting means positioned within the housings are energized, a visually discernible pathway appears along the face of the carpet.

The advertising panel and light fixture are pivotally secured by a detachable hinge allowing them to either pivot downwards or be completely detached. The HVAC duct and advertising panel may further include other light fixtures, ventilation openings, speakers, or other comfort aids.

摘要： An emergency lighting system for an aircraft has photoluminescent strips mounted on the floor rather than a string of electrical lights. This is a better fail-safe since there is no possibility of a failure in power supply. A channel extrusion is secured to the floor of the aircraft and a photoluminescent strip is held between the channel and a transparent cover member. The photoluminescent strip has two thin layers of photoluminescent material rather on a base layer, rather than being a calendered product. This increases the light output.

The printed board and a pair of fluorescent lamp holders are secured in place on the respective side walls and base of the channel-shaped member by snap inserting a plurality of tabs on the printed circuit board panel into conforming slots in the side walls in the case of the circuit board and by snap inserting the opposite edges of an opening in the base of the channel-shaped member into a notch formed in each side of the lamp holders in the latter case.

摘要： The lighting system for an aircraft cabin includes multiple illuminating units for distribution about a cabin. Each illuminating unit includes at least one variable light source providing light of a known characteristic and that is energizeable independently of other illuminating units. A controller controls energization of the illuminating units by way of dimming and switching units associated respectively with the illuminating units. The controller is operable to create different predetermined combinations of energizations of the illuminating units so that a desired lighting scene is created within the cabin by the energized illuminating units. The controller is arranged to effect a gradual transition to the energizations of the illuminating units when changing from one predetermined combination to another. As a result, there is a corresponding gradual change between scenes created in the cabin.

Also, with programmable control means, there can be stroboscopic type flashing lights to direct egress to only those exits which are open.
