    • Provided is an apparatus and method for providing a fail-safe in a head lamp apparatus. In one aspect of the present invention, an apparatus for providing a fail-safe in a head lamp apparatus includes an apparatus for providing a fail-safe in a head lamp apparatus includes an optical module generating a plurality of beam patterns using a predetermined shield, a shield driving unit driving the shield in the optical module, a module driving unit controlling an irradiation angle of the optical module in leftward and rightward directions, a leveling driving unit controlling the irradiation angle of the optical module in upward and downward directions, and a controller controlling the shield driving unit, the module driving unit, and the leveling driving unit, wherein when a fail occurs to one of the shield driving unit, the module driving unit, and the leveling driving unit, the controller controls at least one driving unit which is normally operating to adjust the beam pattern or the beam irradiation angle of the optical module.

    • A vehicle headlamp system includes a headlamp having multiple control devices and an ECU. Each of the control devices controls a light irradiation condition of the headlamp. The ECU stores vehicle constants, error code information and initialization information corresponding to different types of vehicle, and controls the control devices. When a vehicle type is changed, the ECU selects at least one of the vehicle constants corresponding to the changed vehicle type, clears the stored error code information and the initialization information after selecting the at least one of the vehicle constants, stores initialization information corresponding to the changed vehicle type, and initializes the control devices. The ECU recognizes dependencies between the control devices and, if the control devices include a first control device that is independent, executes normal control by the first control device directly after initializing the first control device.

    • An initialization function of a lighting direction control apparatus of a vehicle lamp is provided with functions: for swinging, in a first direction, a lamp across the initial position until the lamp is bumped; for swinging, in the opposite direction (a second direction), the lamp from the bumped position across the initial position at a predetermined angle; and for swinging, in the first direction, the lamp at an angle across the initial direction. The bumped position is defined as a deflection angle position at which the headlamp does not dazzle the driver of a car approaching from the opposite direction. The predetermined angle is defined as an angle greater than a reflection error angle that is generated at the bumping time.

    • A lighting device for a vehicle includes a lamp unit serving to irradiate a light forward, and an actuator having a single output shaft for tilting the lamp unit vertically and transversely.
