    • The invention relates a motor vehicle (1) comprising a roof (2) consisting of at least one part (3) which is completely displaceable between open and closed positions. In the closed position, said part of the roof is arranged between an area near a windscreen frame (4) and the rigid rear part of the roof (5, 5a). The inventive motor vehicle is constructed in such a way that the movable part of the roof (3) is divided into several adjacent sectors (15, 16) in order to enable a reduced width to pass to a normal width and vice versa by displacing said sectors and to move between the open and closed positions thereof when the width is reduced.

    • A convertible vehicle includes a top movable between a closed position covering a vehicle interior and a storage position uncovering the vehicle interior. The top is arranged in a rear top accommodating space in the storage position and includes a linkage with a link arrangement on each side of a vertical longitudinal center plane of the vehicle. The link arrangement includes two main links pivotably mounted at a respective main bearing and each connected to the main bearing via a lower articulation point and to at least one roof link via an upper articulation point. At least one rigid roof shell is fixed at a respective one of the roof links, which, in the closed position, spans the vehicle interior in a direction transverse to the top. The vehicle includes a substantially vertical rear window arranged toward the front of the vehicle with respect to the top accommodating space.

    • A retractable roof for vehicles, in particular a hard roof for cabriolets, has roof pillars extending to the side of a rear window of the roof. The roof pillars, as seen from the vehicle side, enclose an obtuse angle with that longitudinal region of the roof which is situated in front of them. The pillars have a stowing position, when the roof is retracted, in a receiving space which is situated below the roof pillars when the roof is closed and into which the roof can be moved along its length, with the roof pillars in the lead, during retraction, after which they rest steeply erect in the receiving space. To ensure that the receiving space in the vehicle can be usefully reduced in size, the rear window forms the lower boundary of the roof over its width lying between the roof pillars when the roof is closed and can be moved out of its operating position into a stowing position which, with the roof retracted, is at a vertical distance from the lower ends of the roof pillars.
