    • The present invention provides a collector type writing instrument which is formed with a sectioning portion for substantially separating its ink tank and a snorkel having a tubular vent portion for establishing air communication between the front and rear spaces divided by the sectioning portion, wherein at least one ink conduit of a size smaller than that of the vent portion is formed in the sectioning portion. Further, a clearance portion allowing for ink and air bubbles to move therethrough is provided between the collector and snorkel. In addition, the parts present from the sectioning portion to the rear end of the collector are laid out so that ink will be able to spread and wet the surfaces of the parts other than the ink tank. It is also preferable that the end of the tubular vent portion of the snorkel is cut so as to enlarge the opening. The writing instrument is configured so as to satisfy the relations Ts>Is and Tt>It, where nullTsnull is the total minimum cross-section of the vent portion, nullTtnull is the total distance of the vent portion, nullIsnull is the total minimum cross-section of the ink conduit and nullItnull is the total distance of the ink conduit.

    • A writing instrument, able to be filled with fluid from an external fluid source, and to be supplied with fluid from an internal fluid supply for enabling writing therewith. The writing instrument includes a body portion, which includes a point portion, including a tip portion, through which fluid is able to flow to enable filling of the writing instrument from the external fluid source and writing with fluid from the internal fluid supply, and a fluid filling element, able to be actuated to enable filling thereof from the external fluid source. The writing instrument also includes a housing, connectable to and disconnectable from the tip portion, for enclosing the fluid filling element upon connection to the tip portion, and for enabling access to the fluid filling element for operation upon disconnection from the tip portion. The tip portion further includes a rollerball, for enabling writing therewith.

    • Methods and devices for dispensing fluids are provided, including a method of dispensing a fluid into an elongated chamber having a bottom that is at least partially closed. The method includes (a) inserting a dispensing tube into the chamber until a delivery end of the tube is adjacent the bottom of the chamber; (b) dispensing a predetermined quantity of the fluid through the delivery end into the chamber; and (c) moving the delivery end away from the bottom of the chamber, during dispensing, at a rate that maintains the delivery end on the surface of the fluid in the chamber throughout dispensing.
