    • A carriage moving device has a motor, and a carriage. The carriage moves in a first direction when the motor rotates forwardly, while the carriage moves in a second direction which is opposite to the first direction when the motor rotates reversely. The carriage moving device further includes a facing object having a plurality of reflection ratios at a plurality of positions in the scanning direction. A first sensor unit has a light emitting unit configured to emit light to the facing object and a light receiving unit configured to receive light reflected by the facing object. A second sensor unit is configured to output a second signal in response to movement of the carriage. The controller notifies an error of the second sensor unit in response to a condition where a changing amount of the first signal in the reversing step exceeds a threshold amount and the controller cannot obtain the second signal.

    • There is provided a printing apparatus that can perform print timing control while moving a print head with high precision even when variation in moving speed of the print head is relatively large. More specifically, a prediction speed is obtained based on a detected moving speed of the print head and a control target speed at the time of detection, and then a print timing of the print head is controlled based on the prediction speed. Accordingly, a correction speed of the print timing is considered to be the obtained prediction speed. This makes it possible to minimize a landing error even when a speed variation is large.

    • An inkjet recording apparatus includes: an inkjet head which has a nozzle and an ejection energy generating element configured to cause droplets to be ejected from an ejection port of the nozzle; a head movement device which is configured to reciprocally move the inkjet head to scan a recording medium onto which the droplets ejected from the inkjet head are deposited; a linear encoder which is configured to output signals to determine a position of the inkjet head; an ejection trigger signal generating device which is configured to generate ejection trigger signals in accordance with the output signals of the linear encoder, the ejection trigger signals specifying ejection timings of the inkjet head with a temporal resolution of 0.1 μs order; and an ejection control device which is configured to cause the inkjet head to eject the droplets in accordance with the ejection timings specified by the ejection trigger signals.
