摘要： A process for automatically gluing a photochromic lens, includes: supplying an adhesive comprising photochromic molecules; supplying an external lens; supplying a polarizing film from a reel; forming the polarizing film on a spherical mold; applying a first portion of the adhesive to the polarizing film positioned on the spherical mold; compressing the polarizing film and the external lens, while measuring a thickness of the first portion of the adhesive therebetween; supplying an internal lens; applying a second portion of the adhesive to the internal lens; compressing the internal lens and the external lens having the polarizing film formed thereon, while measuring a thickness of the second portion of the adhesive therebetween using a measuring device; stopping the compression of the internal lens and the external lens; cutting excess polarizing film; and catalyzing the adhesive to form the glued photochromic lens.

摘要： Methods are disclosed which decrease the time between de-molding a lens and initiating a hard coating process. The de-molded lens at a de-mold temperature TM is transported away from a mold. A dip tank is maintained at a temperature TD, where TD is less than TM, wherein the dip tank includes a liquid including a primer or a hard coat solution. The lens is dipped into the dip tank wherein the lens has a temperature TL greater than TD, so that intermediate cooling, cleaning, destaticizing and delays associated therewith are avoided. Other methods eliminate many conventional process steps and may include drying raw material to decrease primer coating times and employing robotic systems for carrying out the methods.

摘要： An apparatus and method for forming a lens using a structure having a front mold, a rear mold, and a gasket having opposed ends and defining an axially extending bore in which the front and rear molds are disposed within the bore and spaced apart from each other therein, comprising a piston for axially moving within the bore of the gasket a selected one of the front mold or the rear mold relative to the other mold to a desired one of a plurality of axial separation distances between the molds. A needle also preferably also communicates with the bore of the gasket between the molds to provide fluid communication between the outer surface of the gasket and the bore to facilitate axial movement of the molds relative to each other. Another needle is used for injecting a desired amount of a lens-forming fluid into the bore of the gasket intermediate the front and rear molds, in which the fluid is cured to form the lens.

摘要： An injection compression molding method of a lens is provided, where a toggle link mechanism (65) is actuated to close a molding die (50) and a movable die plate (64) is moved to a position establishing a cavity thickness of greater than a thickness of an article to be molded while the die is closed. After injecting a molten resin into the cavity, the molten resin is sealed in the cavity and the toggle link mechanism (65) is actuated to advance the movable die plate (64) toward a fixed die plate (61), the relative position of a rear die plate (62) and the movable die plate (64) is made constant at a position where extension of a tie bar (63) becomes a predetermined value, and the molten resin is cooled for a predetermined time after completion of pressurizing the resin.
