    • A hammer-actuated fastening tool utilizing a powder cartridge for driving a fastener into a workpiece upon discharge of the cartridge includes a retainer clip for maintaining the cartridge in its operative position within the tool for discharge of the cartridge. The tool includes a housing within which a fastener is positionable, a cartridge-holding body supported within the housing defining a bore within which a cartridge is operatively positionable, and an elongated firing pin for transferring the impact of a hammer to the cartridge for discharging the cartridge. A guide member body is positioned about the firing pin for guiding the firing pin relative to the cartridge-holding body from a first position to a second position at which the impact of the hammer is transferred to a cartridge positioned within the cartridge-holding body. The retainer clip is attached to the guide member body so as to be interposed between the firing pin and a cartridge positioned within the bore of the cartridge-holding body.

    • In a hammer-strikable, powder-actuated, fastener-driving tool, a breech block is mounted within a generally tubular body by several resilient shock absorber structures, each including an elastomeric grommet, an eyelet having a tubular portion surrounded by the grommet and an annular portion, a washer interposed between the annular portion and one end of the grommet, and a screw attaching the breech block to the body. The screw shank extends through the grommet. The screw head bears against the washer. The breech block mounts a firing pin, which is biased backwardly to a normal position, and to which a hammer-strikable button is connected. A barrel, mounted upon the body so as to be axially movable with respect thereto, has an elongate slot. A stud mounted upon the body extends through the slot. A washer disposed around the stud is biased against the barrel so as to impart frictional drag to the barrel.

    • A powder-actuated fastener-driving device includes a hollow body including a tubular portion and a handle, and an inner tube movable forwardly and rearwardly within the tubular portion and having a front end disposed outwardly of the tubular portion, and a slot. The front end of the inner tube has an outer surface formed with a position-limiting groove. A stop member is disposed within the tubular portion, and extends into the slot. A sound-absorbing sleeve is sleeved movably on a portion of the tubular portion disposed outwardly of the handle, and has an inner surface formed with a position-limiting block, which is movable forwardly and rearwardly within the position-limiting groove. When the front end of the inner tube is pressed forwardly against an object, the sound-absorbing sleeve comes into contact with the handle.
