摘要： A method and apparatus for producing semi-solid material castings from its liquid state in a shot chamber of a vertical die casting machine where the liquid material is poured into a shot chamber and rapidly cooled from its liquid state to temperatures below its liquidus. High-intensity ultrasonic vibration is applied to the cast material. The combined action of rapid cooling from the shot chamber, vigorous pushing by the plunger, and radiation of ultrasonic vibration on the cast material in the shot chamber directly turns the initial liquid material directly into a semi-solid slurry. The slurry is then injected into a die cavity to form a casting.

摘要： A three-plate die casting mold for producing a metal die-cast part by die casting a molten metal includes a first, second, and third mold part, where the third mold part is disposed between the first and second mold parts. Molten metal is feedable to a die cavity through a sprue system where the sprue system has a plurality of feed channels that are disposed in the third mold part and open into the die cavity. The plurality of feed channels have a respective tapering at a die cavity-side end where the respective tapering locally decreases a channel cross section such that a predetermined breaking point is generated during a die casting operation which allows a defined separation of the metal die-cast part from a sprue created in the sprue system when the three-plate die casting mold is being opened.

摘要： A three-plate pressure die casting mold for producing at least one metallic die casting part by die casting a metal melt, includes first, second and third mold parts and at least one mold cavity as well as a sprue system. In the third mold part there is at least one spring-loaded pressure element which, when opening the die casting mold, presses the sprue produced in the sprue system against the first mold part, whereby the sprue is retained and tears off from the die casting part in a defined manner. The melt manifold and feed block construction at least in an exit-side block region that includes the two feed outflow openings in a transverse direction parallel with the mold separation plane in relation to a predefined nominal operating extent is made so as to be shortened by an expansion dimension which has been predefined as a thermal transverse expansion of this block region when heated from a room temperature range to a predefined operating temperature range that is elevated in relation to said room temperature range.

In particular, a gate plate for a die casting machine is configured to lessen the waste produced during die casting, resulting in greater yield. Further, the gate plate is configured with tapered sides to produce a draft, leading to less friction during the gate break/pull back sequence. This draft reduces the amount of unpressurized dwell time and subsequently the cycle time for producing the cast part.

摘要： A sprue apparatus for use in a molding apparatus for connecting the melt duct of a molding machine nozzle with a runner system of a molding apparatus. The sprue apparatus includes a plurality of thermal regulators that regulate a plurality of thermal zones that segment the length of the sprue apparatus for the purpose of localized temperature control in support of a molding process. The plurality of zones may be thermally regulated such as to enable a substantially leak-free junction between the machine nozzle and the molding apparatus. The sprue apparatus may include an isolating coupler that substantially isolates a heated sprue bushing from carriage force. The invention has been found particularly useful when injecting metal alloys such as magnesium based alloys when in the thixotropic state.
