    • A dry-granulation method for producing a tablet comprising (a) pharmaceutical active ingredient in an amount 50-90% w/w and (b) one or more excipients in an amount 10-50% w/w including at least a binder which comprises (i) preparing granules from a powder comprising a binder, a pharmaceutically active ingredient and optionally one or more other excipients or pharmaceutical active ingredients by a process characterized in that a compaction force is applied to the powder to produce a compacted mass comprising a mixture of fine particles and granules and separating and removing fine particles and/or small granules from the granules by entraining the fine particles and/or small granules in a gas stream in which the compacted mass flows, wherein the direction of the flow of the gas stream has a component which is contrary to that of the direction of flow of the compacted mass, and collecting the accepted granules (ii) blending the accepted granules with other components of the tablet in granular or fine powder form wherein in step (ii) at least one other component of the tablet formulation is in granular form and is prepared from a powder comprising said other component by a process characterized in that a compaction force is applied to the powder to produce a compacted mass comprising a mixture of fine particles and granules and separating and removing fine particles and/or small granules from the granules by entraining the fine particles and/or small granules in a gas stream in which the compacted mass flows, wherein the direction of the flow of the gas stream has a component which is contrary to that of the direction of flow of the compacted mass; and (iii) compressing the resultant blend to form a tablet; with the proviso that the tablet does not comprise (a) paracetamol, maize starch and microcrystalline cellulose in a ratio of 60:20:20 w/w, (b) acebutolol HCl and starch in a ratio of 90:10 w/w, (c) sodium valproate, hypromellose and maize starch in a ratio of 90:5:5 w/w, (d) ketoprofen and maize starch in a ratio of 50:50 w/w or (e) metformin HCl, microcrystalline cellulose and maize starch in a ratio of 80:14:6 w/w.

    • A rotating suction chamber apparatus for sorting a mixture of materials comprises a cylindrical drum with its upper end is at a higher elevation than its lower end. An upper housing connected to the upper end has a material intake for receiving the mixture of materials for introduction to the upper end. The mixture of materials includes a light fraction and a heavy fraction, and the upper housing has an outlet for the light fraction. A suction hood connected to the light fraction outlet includes a light separator shaft with a substantially vertical portion, and an air blower is adapted to create an airflow from the lower end, to the upper end, through the light fraction outlet and through the suction hood. A rotator rotates the drum about its longitudinal axis so that the heavy fraction is moved through the drum and falls out of the lower end.

    • A feed device for a linear airflow separator that eliminates the use of a winnower in the separation of tobacco products. The feed device includes an adjustable angle baffle deflector in combination with an air knife. The air-fed adjustable angle baffle deflector feeds with non-product contact and as a result does not lead to mechanical degradation of the treated material. The air knife is fed with air from a high pressure blower having a variable frequency drive. The feed device treats the product with air only, thereby eliminating mechanical contact with the product and resulting in higher separation yields and higher operating efficiency than conventional recirculating pneumatic separators.

    • To introduce a mixture to be processed, in which powder and granular material with relatively large specific gravity and hardness and accompanying lightweight foreign substances are mixed together, inside a system and separate the same by a dry method.Disclosed is a powder and granular material separation processing device X that is connected to an external suction machine such as a dust collection device and an electric vacuum cleaner, introduces by suction a mixture to be processed into a separation processing container 1, and discharges lightweight foreign substances to the outside of a system while collecting powder and granular material inside the system. The separation processing container 1 has a suction introduction tube 2 that is attached and sealed as the upper part structure of a hopper tank 4 that collects and stores the powder and granular material and receives the mixture to be processed on the circumferential surface thereof, and a suction discharge tube 3 that is connected to an external suction machine on the upper surface thereof. In addition, the separation processing container 1 has a separation cone 11 with a funnel-shaped bottom surface and a cylindrical opening 13 that hangs in a protruding shape downward from the tip part of the separation cone 11 and of which the opening diameter thereof is reduced stepwise to have multiple steps. The suction discharge tube 3 has a multiple tube configuration at the tip part thereof in which each tube is given a small diameter corresponding to each opening diameter of the cylindrical opening 13 to be loosely inserted and face the tip part of an opening.
