    • A flow mixer and conditioner for use within a conduit conditions flowing media within the conduit to provide a swirl-free, symmetric, and reproducible velocity profile regardless of upstream flow distortions, disturbances, or anomalies. Tabs are cut from a single plate and bent or affixed to provide mixing and conditioning of the flowing media. Single tabs or tab pairs emanating from common vertices can be formed so that they diverge in, or against, the direction of flowing media. The flow conditioner requires as little as three pipe diameters downstream and upstream to mix and condition the flow stream allowing close placement to elbows, valves, tees, and other disturbances typically seen in industrial plants.

    • A method and apparatus for generating tip vortices comprising a series of ramped tabs projecting inward at an acute angle from a bounding surface of a fluid containment and transport vessel such that the tabs are sloped in the direction of the fluid flow and spaced about the internal circumference of the bounding surface transverse to the main flow direction for causing vigorous cross-stream mixing through the generation of paired alternating rotation tip vortices from oppposite sides of each tab with the vortices having their axes of rotation along the direction of the main flow. The vigorous cross-stream mixing will accomplish the equalization of various fluid properties such as velocity, thermal energy, kinetic energy and species concentration within the flow.

    • The fire suppressant foam generation and application apparatus comprises a backpack mounted unit that produces a low moisture content fire suppressant foam for use in fire fighting applications. This apparatus draws fire suppressant foam concentrate from a reservoir mounted on the backpack and injects pressurized gas into the flow of the fire fighting foam concentrate to create the fire suppressant foam. The pressurized gas drives the fire suppressant foam through a delivery apparatus where the fire suppressant foam is agitated as it passes through the delivery apparatus to expand the foam and reduce the moisture content. A pressurized gas operated pump can be used to actively draw the water/foam mixture from a supply tank and supply it under pressure to the delivery apparatus, which can be a hose that is equipped with a nozzle.

    • The fire suppressant foam generation and application apparatus produces a low moisture content fire suppressant foam for use in fire fighting applications. The reduction in the water content of the fire suppressant foam is accomplished by the use of pressurized gas in place of water along with a stata tube apparatus to agitate the foam/water mixture to create the fire suppressant foam. A pressurized gas operated pump can be used to actively draw the water/foam mixture from a supply tank and supply it under pressure to the stata tube and outlet line. This apparatus can be implemented as a backpack unit consisting of a storage tank, formed as a substantially U-shaped molded element, which contains the liquid foam concentrate/water mixture. A high pressure tank containing pressurized gas, either nitrogen or a nitrogen-air mixture, or other suitable gas mixture, is included in an aperture formed in the storage tank housing.
