    • An ophthalmic irrigator-aspirator has a handpiece with aspiration and irrigation openings through its distal end. A tip component connects to the handpiece and has an aspiration cannula. A flexible sleeve has an annular hub for watertight connection to the handpiece or a base portion of the tip. The sleeve has an intermediate portion that forms a channel for an irrigation fluid along the exterior of the cannula to an irrigation port in the sleeve. The distal end portion of the sleeve is sized for a watertight connection over the distal portion of the cannula. Such distal end portion of the sleeve has an aspiration port in communication with the cannula aspiration port. The sleeve proximate, intermediate, and distal portions are integral with each other and are formed of a resilient material that allows the sleeve to be tightly fitted on the handpiece or tip base portion and the cannula.

    • A surgical irrigation and suction apparatus includes a housing forming a handle and a barrel. The housing contains a suction tube for disposing of waste slurry and am irrigation tube for provision of irrigation fluid. The apparatus further includes a removable tube divided into an irrigation chamber and a suction chamber. The two chambers are collinearly arranged with respect to each other. The removable tube is coupled with the housing via a tube fitting. The apparatus further includes an inlet/outlet tip coupled with the other end of the removable tube, the tip including an outlet port and a plurality of inlet ports, respectively. The irrigation chamber terminates distal to the barrel with the tip arranged to spray the irrigation fluid through the outlet port. The suction chamber terminates distal to the barrel with the tip for recovery of the waste slurry through the plurality of inlet ports.

    • An apparatus and method for controlling fluid flow provided by an apparatus to a patient's eye during a surgical procedure. The method includes automatically adjusting an irrigation fluid source to a predetermined height during the surgical procedure using the apparatus, receiving a request either that the irrigation fluid source be moved to a different height from the predetermined height or that a manual adjustment mode be entered, and ceasing automatic adjusting and requiring manual adjustment of the height of the irrigation fluid source until the surgical procedure is completed or an indication received to resume automatic height adjustment of the irrigation fluid source. As an alternative, fluid flow rate or intraocular pressure may be maintained, and the design may include making adjustments to default values in other modes based on the adjustment made.

    • The present invention provides an apparatus for instilling fluid into a patient having an intestinal stoma so as to administer an antegrade colonic enema. The portable instillation apparatus comprising in combination: a fluid reservoir, a pump assembly, a control module, a fluid delivery tube and an intestinal stoma catheter wherein the control module is operable to automatically deliver a predetermined volume of instillation fluid at a specific flow rate and pressure range suitable for a particular patient. The portable instillation apparatus utilities a gear pump manifold and a robust empty reservoir detection mechanism, facilitating the portability, durability and reliability of the apparatus over-coming the disadvantages of traditional peristaltic pump mechanisms. The portable instillation apparatus maximizes the ease of transport and use of the device while also enabling a method for a patient to self-administer an antegrade colonic enema within a short time period and without intervention.
