    • One form of the invention provides a needle-free injection system including the following components: a nozzle portion having a glass wall defining a drug storage space, and an injection wall defining a drug injection space, the injection wall being coaxial with the glass wall and defining a plurality of drug bypass conduits disposed adjacent a forward end of the drug injection space; an injection orifice defined at the forward end of the injection space; a drug plunger defining a rearward end of the storage space; a drug plug initially disposed between the storage space and the injection space, and being displaceable into the injection space adjacent the bypass conduits; and a pierceable gas cartridge for providing injection power to the drug plunger.

    • A syringe has a tubular body provided at its front end portion with a portion for mounting an injection needle thereon and opens at its rear end portion so as to have a rear end opening. A gasket for sealing the rear end opening of the tubular body is slidably inserted into the tubular body. A plunger rod is detachably coupled with a rear end portion of the gasket through the rear end opening of the tubular body. A male screw is formed at a front end portion of the plunger rod and is circumferentially alternately divided into at least one male screw portion and at least one first recess portion. A female screw is formed on a rear end face of the gasket and is circumferentially alternately divided into at least one female screw portion and at least one second recess portion. A state where the male screw portion and the first recess portion of the male screw are, respectively, fitted into the second recess portion and the female screw portion of the female screw, the male screw is rotated relative to the female screw so as to be brought into engagement with the female screw such that the plunger rod is coupled with the gasket.

    • The present invention is a hypodermic syringe pre-filled with a volume of a desired solution. A plug member is positioned within the hypodermic syringe in between the pre-filled fluid and the lumen of the syringe's cannula. The presence of the plug member within the hypodermic syringe separates the cannula from the pre-filled fluid thereby leaving the cannula unaffected by the presence of the fluid within the syringe. As the plunger of the hypodermic syringe is engaged, the pressure of the pre-filled fluid is increased. The fluid pressure acts upon the plug member, displacing the plug member when a predetermined fluid pressure is achieved. Once the plug member is displaced, the occlusion between the pre-filled fluid and the cannula is removed and the pre-filled fluid is free to flow through the lumen of the cannula.

    • A fluid dispensing arrangement for injecting liquid parenteral drugs or other liquids, including a syringe or cartridge with a needle-hub secured thereto, a plunger in the syringe or cartridge for effecting liquid discharge and injection, and a combination sealing and by-pass valve plug initially in a radially compressed sealing position at the forward end of the cartridge or syringe body or barrel and separating the liquid in the cartridge or syringe body or barrel from the needle-hub assembly, the valve plug being longitudinally forwardly movable to a by-pass discharge position within a by-pass chamber of larger diameter than the normal unrestricted and uncompressed diameter of the plug. The plug has tapered cruciform ends with corresponding circumferentially spaced by-pass grooves formed thereby at its opposite ends to aid in liquid by-pass therepast during liquid discharge or aspirating action.
