摘要： The improved endoprosthetic device surface treatment encourages soft tissue attachment thereto. A porous mesh surface treatment creates on an outer surface of the endoprosthetic device a three-dimensional surface structure similar to cancellous bone. Suture attachment features are provided at various locations around the treated surface structure to initially affix a vascularized soft tissue to the treated surface. As the patient heals the soft tissue grows and infiltrates the porous mesh surface to achieve an attachment strength substantially equal to the surrounding tissue.

摘要： A modular elbow prosthesis is disclosed, as well as a surgical approach and implantation technique, for using the prosthesis. The system is the first and only to allow for a, Biomechanically Anatomical, Nonconstrained, Compartmental (BANC) Elbow Arthroplasty. The modularity of the system allows it to be implanted as an unicompartmental or partial elbow replacement or a total elbow replacement. The modular elbow prosthesis for partial elbow replacement includes a cylindrical medial humeral component, a polyethylene ring thereon, and a semicircular medial ulnar component which mates with the polyethylene ring. Additionally, for total elbow replacement, the modular elbow prosthesis also includes a circular lateral humeral component, a polyethylene ring thereon, a semicircular lateral ulnar component, and a radial component. Implantation of the prosthesis is through a minimally invasive medial surgical approach with the aid of precision biomechanical guides. The application is well suited for canines, other quadrupeds, and people.

摘要： An acetabular implant for use in a hip joint prosthesis is disclosed. The implant includes a body portion comprising a polycarbonate polyurethane. The body portion includes a substantially semispherical inner articulating surface defining a socket sized to receive a head portion of a femoral component of the hip joint prosthesis and an outer engagement surface having an annular protrusion extending outwardly therefrom. The annular protrusion is configured for snap-fit engagement with a corresponding recess in the acetabulum. The implant also includes a deformation control element having an increased durometer hardness relative to the polycarbonate polyurethane and positioned within the body portion between the inner articulating surface and the outer engagement surface.

摘要： A modular prosthesis system for replacement of a head portion of a proximal radius includes a monolithic stem component, a head component, and a locking mechanism formed by the stem and head components. The stem component defines a stem anchoring portion having a longitudinal axis and configured to couple to the proximal radius, and a dovetail-shaped first mounting portion on a first end face that extends in a first direction transverse to the longitudinal axis. The head component has a dovetail-shaped second mounting portion on a second end face opposite the first end face slidably engaged with the first mounting portion along the first direction. One of the first and second mounting portions intersects the longitudinal axis. The locking mechanism is formed at an interface between the stem and head components and is engaged through relative translational movement between the stem and head components. A related method is provided.

摘要： A radial head replacement system includes a radial head replacement, an apparatus for guiding the resection of a radial head, and a kit including bone plug and bone plug insertion instrument. The radial head replacement has a separate adjustable head portion that may be secured on an implanted stem such that the implanted radial head replacement smoothly interfaces with the capitellum of the humerus. In another form, the radial head replacement uses crossed bone screws that serve to more securely anchor the stem of the radial head replacement in the intramedullary canal of the radius. The resection guide includes a movable cutting guide which ensures a precise resection of the radial head and thereby allows for better positioning of the implanted radial head replacement. The bone plug limits the travel of bone cement beyond the area of affixation of the stem portion of a radial head replacement to the radius.
