    • An apparatus for isolating airborne pathogens created during a procedure performed on an individual's extremity includes a transparent, dome-shaped shield having first and second openings therein to allow two individuals to insert their respective extremities into the shield, said first and second openings being located on opposite sides of the shield, and said shield further having a ventilation opening located generally between the first and second openings; an air-cleaning filter located at the ventilation opening; and a fan mounted to the shield and communicating with the ventilation opening and the air-cleaning filter with the filter located adjacent the inlet side of the fan, whereby fumes created during the procedure are directed through the filter.

    • A ventilation system (10) ventilates surrounding waste gases or bio-contaminants and the like exhaled from a patient or dissipated nearby in the vicinity of the face of the patient. The system generally comprises an envelope (20) having breathable surface portions (40) for collecting gases therethrough into a hollow interior (28) of the envelope. A suction port (30) coupled to the envelope collects the gases from the hollow interior for removal by a suction device (16). The use of an envelope having breathable surface portions which is at least partly flexible permits the system to be readily applied to a patient by simply placing the envelope under the head of the patient like a pillow.

    • A miniature motorized hand held dental saw wherein the axis of rotation of the handle of the dental saw is tangent to the cutting edge of the blade. This important characteristic, combined with the use of a flexible blade, enables the operator to change, as needed, the direction of the cut without any snagging or binding effects. The dental saw preferably includes a main steel body on which are attached three flanged Teflon.TM. coated bearings that support and guide a thin, annular blade. The rotation of the blade, on these flanged bearings, is created by a drive assembly including two opposite wheels, a drive wheel and a follower wheel, each wheel including a hub on which is fitted an o-ring. The opposite o-rings create an equal pressure on both faces of the blade and cause the blade to rotate.
