摘要： A method for producing a surgical instrument is disclosed. The method comprises obtaining a handle, wherein the handle comprises a distal end comprising a shaft interface surface and a first set of magnetic elements. The method further comprises obtaining a shaft, wherein the shaft comprises a proximal end comprising a handle interface surface, a second set of magnetic elements, and a third set of magnetic elements. The method further comprises attaching the shaft to the handle, wherein the shaft interface surface is configured to engage the shaft at the handle interface surface, wherein an attractive magnetic force is configured to pull the handle towards the shaft when the first set of magnetic elements interact with the second magnetic elements, and wherein a repulsive magnetic force is configured to repel the handle from the shaft when the first set of magnetic elements interacts with the third set of magnetic elements.

摘要： A staple cartridge is disclosed comprising a proximal end, a distal end, a cartridge deck, and a sloped nose. The cartridge deck comprises a first tissue-supporting surface extending distally to a first distal edge, a plurality of staple cavities defined in the first tissue-supporting surface, a sloped wall extending from the first tissue-supporting surface, a longitudinal slot defined in the first tissue-supporting surface and at least a portion of the sloped wall, and a second tissue-supporting surface. The sloped wall slopes from the first distal edge to a second distal edge. The sloped wall comprises a distal blocking surface. The longitudinal slot extends from the proximal end to the distal blocking surface. The second tissue-supporting surface extends from the second distal edge. The second tissue-supporting surface does not comprise staple cavities defined therein. The sloped nose is positioned distal to the second tissue-supporting surface.

The pair of side walls may extend at an acute angle relative to a vertical axis of the base member to hold the surgical clip at the acute angle. The acute angle may be greater than 10° and/or about 20-30°. The cartridge may also include a pedestal extending between the pair of side walls and configured to support the surgical clip, where the pedestal is disposed at the acute angle. The cartridge may further include a retainer configured to retain the surgical clip in the compartment, the retainer including a pair of fingers configured to contact the surgical clip, where the pair of fingers are oriented at the acute angle.

摘要： Surgical clips and surgical applicators used in performing rapid tissue closure in either minimally invasive surgeries or traditional open procedures are provided. In one example approach, a surgical clip comprises opposing sides extending from a top portion and terminating at tips positioned below the top portion. The resting position of the clip is its closed position. Edges of the top portion and the opposing sides form opposing faces perpendicular to the opposing sides. The opposing faces are angled inwardly towards each other at a region of the faces adjacent to the top portion. Grooves are formed in each of the opposing sides. The grooves are configured to engage inwardly turned tracks of a clip applicator such that, when a force is applied to the clip, the opposing sides bend outwardly away from each other to place the clip in an intermediate open position.

摘要： An integral surgical clip includes two clamping arms and a non-spring-elastic connection portion that interconnects the two clamping arms in an integral manner. The two clamping arms on account of a plastic deformation of the clip are pivotable towards one another from an opened initial position up to a closed end position. The two clamping arms engage on the connection portion so as to be mutually spaced apart and are in each case extended beyond the connection portion by one lever arm molded thereon, and wherein, by squeezing the two lever arms, the two clamping arms, on account of a plastic deformation of the connection portion, are pivotable from the closed end position to an opened position. The two lever arms, in particular at the external ends thereof, are interconnected by an external connection arm.

摘要： A surgical instrument, such as an endoscopic or laparoscopic instrument. The surgical instrument may comprise an end effector comprising at least one sensor. The surgical instrument may also comprise an electrically conductive shaft having a distal end connected to the end effector wherein the sensor is electrically insulated from the shaft. The surgical instrument may also comprise a handle connected to a proximate end of the shaft. The handle may comprise a control unit electrically coupled to the shaft such that the shaft radiates signals as an antenna from the control unit to the sensor and receives radiated signals from the sensor. Other components electrically coupled to the shaft may also radiate the signals.

The attachment of the surgical clip cartridge to the surgical instrument shaft enables the surgical clip cartridge to be deployed intracorporeally for use in surgical operations requiring applications of multiple surgical clips.
