摘要： A pupil expander is formed from a frame of shape-memory material with a covering made of elastomer. The frame is in the form of two arc-shaped sections connected together at one end to form a broken circle having free distal ends. Each arc-shaped section has an upper frame portion and a lower frame portion connected to each other at the distal ends thereof. The covering is disposed over each arc-shaped section and has a C-shaped cross section so as to form an outwardly facing groove between the upper frame portion and the lower frame portion. The pupil expander is configured to be folded in half with the grooves facing each other and straightened so as to form a cylindrical body for insertion into a tubular applicator and upon release from the applicator, the pupil expander resumes the shape of the broken circle to push the margins of the pupil wider.

摘要： Certain embodiments provide a cannula system with a retention mechanism comprising a cannula, a hub coupled to the cannula, wherein a distal end of the cannula is configured to be inserted into a body part up to the hub, and a retention mechanism configured to create resistance for retaining the cannula inside the body part in response to force exerted on the cannula for pulling the cannula out of the body part. The retention mechanism may include retention elements coupled to a bottom surface of the hub, and by rotating the hub in a first direction, the one or more retention elements that are parallel to a surface of the body part are configured to penetrate the body part. In other embodiments, the retention mechanism may include halfpipe elements that pivot on fulcrum points to hold or release the hub and cannula from the body part.

摘要： The present invention provides an apparatus for illuminating the eye. This illumination may be by lamellar illumination, scleral scatter and retro illumination or a combination thereof. The apparatus comprises a speculum assembly and at least one light emitter assembly. The speculum assembly is adapted for magnetic attachment and includes a pair of flexible retractor arms extending from a speculum handle, each retractor arm including a retractor located distally from the speculum handle. The light emitter assembly is adapted for magnetic attachment and includes at least one flexible extension extending from a battery and circuit housing. The flexible extension includes a terminal optic emitter for adjusting the angle of inclination of light emitted therefrom. The speculum assembly and the light emitter assembly are magnetically mated together at one or more points of magnetic contact.

Each probe guider has a peak upwardly extended above the eyelid distensible frame that serves as a guiding point and forms a probe guiding cavity within the guiding points of the probe guiders. The lens probe is guided to be disposed within the probe guiding cavity via the guiding points before and after the lens probe is aligned and contacted with the cornea of the patient's eye in a proper upright orientation.
