    • Described is a vacuum cleaning device for charcoal grills. The present invention includes a portable vacuum cleaning device having a vacuum source used to draw air and debris through a collection hose and into a vacuum bag. The vacuum bag and the collection hose are composed of flame-retardant material that will not melt or burn from having hot ash and embers from a grill drawn therethrough. The end of the collection hose that is secured to the vacuum cleaning device includes a fan that is used to break-up and extinguish embers drawn through the collection hose. The vacuum bag is enclosed between a housing and a lid secured thereto, and the lid is removable to allow access to the vacuum bag. The vacuum cleaning device also includes one or more straps thereon that can be adjustably secured together such that a user can wear the device over the user's shoulder.

    • A vacuum system includes a filter cleaning mechanism which allows the filter to be cleaned without removal from the vacuum. This mechanism can include a carrying handle which is biased against the lid by a spring. The handle may be released from a vertical position, causing the handle to forcefully strike the lid and dislodge debris from the filter. The vacuum may include a spark arrestor disposed around the filter. The spark arrestor encloses the filter and surrounds the filter sides with a metal screen. The spark arrestor has holes formed in the bottom around the outer perimeter of the filter so that debris which is dislodged from the filter falls through the holes and into the vacuum canister.

    • The present invention is a device that rapidly and effectively separates and collects debris from airflow between a debris source and a vacuum source. The device comprises a first chamber situated above and adjoining a second chamber. The first chamber functions to separate and remove the debris and the second chamber functions to collect the debris. The first chamber is circular in cross-section and comprises an upper portion and a downward and outward sloping sidewall. The upper portion has an output port connected by a first conduit to the vacuum source and the sidewall has an input port connected by a second conduit to the debris source. Air and debris are drawn into the first chamber through the input port by suction created at the output port. The debris is centrifugally forced to the sidewall whereby it is then centripetally forced downward into the second chamber through a peripheral opening between the sidewall and a barrier, while cleaned air is evacuated through the output port.

    • A miniaturized vacuum generator is powered by pressurized air, such as is commonly available in shop air lines. The generator includes a transducer coupled to the pressurized air line and utilizing the venturi principle to develope a vacuum at a vacuum port to which a vacuum hose may be coupled. This may be used in cleaning circuit boards and small electronic assemblies to pick off bits of solder, filings and other debris and contaiminants which more conventional vacuum cleaners do not effectively remove. The apparatus includes an in-line filter for collecting such debris and contaiminants and preventing them from being blown about by the exhaust. The apparatus may also be used as a pickup device for microchips and other miniature complements on an electronic assembly at a production line. Other uses of the device may be in the jewelry repair field where the debris to be picked up often contains dust and filings of precious metal and, occasionally, lost gemstones. The inline filter admits of ready disassembly for recovery of such materials. The device works without moving parts and is fabricated to a considerable extent from static dissipative materials to prevent the buildup of electrostatic charge which might damage charge-sensitive microchips and other components being handled or worked upon.

    • A vacuuming device for neutralizing flammable powders. The device includes a container having an upper chamber and a lower chamber separated by a baffle, with the upper chamber being in fluid communication with the lower chamber proximate an outer annular region of baffle. A liquid such as water is disposed in the lower chamber, and an air jet drawn into the lower chamber via a vacuum inlet line. In one embodiment, the air jet passes through the liquid for generation of a tangential flow that causes the body of liquid to rotate within the lower chamber. The rotation in the lower chamber can also cause the air in the upper chamber to rotate, so that liquid droplets entrained therein migrate to the outer wall centrifugally. Flammable particles entrained in the air jet are wetted and neutralized.
