摘要： Provided are methods and devices for the delivery of material goods incorporating automatable components. An automated delivery method when implemented with the appropriate delivery receptacle allows for greater efficiency and convenience through automation. An order for consumer goods placed over the Internet can be properly packaged and connected with a delivery vehicle that may be fully automated. The delivery vehicle will transport the material item(s) to a receptacle enclosure at a delivery destination; which may be located near the buyer's residence or workplace. The receptacle enclosure may be configured to receive the material items directly from the vehicle. Whereby material items may be transported and received with less labor at any time of any day.

The storage unit includes a door member for closeably opening the storage unit and an ejection slot configured on a portion of the storage unit. The media processing mechanism is coupled to the storage unit, such that the media processing mechanism is capable of dispensing a media sheet having data content printed thereon, into the storage unit through the ejection slot. Opening the storage unit enables children to access the media sheet from within the storage unit. The media processing mechanism is also capable of printing the data content on the media sheet prior to dispensing the media sheet into the storage unit.

Preferably the architectural features of the stylistic components are architecturally compatible with or architecturally complementary to the building or structure having avertical member (e.g., post, wall, or surface) upon which the postal receptacle assembly is to be attached or hung. Examples of stylistic components of the postal receptacle assembly include one or more of the column components and the pediment component.

According to the invention there is provided a mail receptacle means assembly consisting of a rectangular open weave basket with open top and having means for mounting to a bracket fixed to a door just below a mail slot. The receptacle means is mounted in such a way that the door can be of the overhead type such as a garage door so that it can be moved from the vertical to the horizontal orientation. The mail receptacle means and its mounting are designed to allow the receptacle means to maintain its orientation such that the open top of the receptacle means faces the ceiling no matter what position the door is in. The mail receptacle means mounting is designed also to allow the receptacle means to be removed from the door for placing onto a desk or other mail sorting or collection location.
