摘要： A hand-held, modular pair of tongs for grasping and manipulating items or substances is disclosed. The tongs include a first arm and a second arm connected by a hinge, the hinge being biased towards a maximum angle of extension, and the first arm and second arm each terminating in two or more grasping fingers, each grasping finger being biased outward. A grasping finger lock on each arm, when retracted, permits the two or more grasping fingers of its arm to rest outward to release any tip being grasped, and, when extended, forces the two or more grasping fingers of its arm inward to enclose a tip between them. A hinge lock, when retracted while the pair of tongs is closed prevents their opening. A tightening bolt, when rotated, reduces a force necessary to prevent the hinge fully opening, or locks the hinge in a partially open position.

摘要： A one-piece construction chopsticks including symmetrical first and second portions connected to each other by a parallelepiped resilient member at a rear end thereof in a mirror image configuration. A hook on the second portion aligns and maintains positioning of the first and second portions and limits the size of an opening between a bottom side thereof. A pair of parallelelepiped rails perpendicularly disposed on a lower segment of the first portion guides and aligns the first and second portions. Interchangeable implements, such as a spoon, a fork, and a gripping tool, is attachable to the bottom side of each of the first and second portions. Thus, the present chopsticks secure a food particle between the gripping tools without the time and effort involved in developing the skills necessary to use conventional chopsticks, while also permitting the interchangeable use of an eating utensil, such as a spoon and a fork.

At least one functional finger/thumb accommodation area is presented and at least one finger/thumb stability is optionally provided. The disposable tongs provide a triple protection to the user by providing soft irregular peripheral edges help prevent paper cuts. Also the central connecting tab between the two jaw pockets can be torn to separate the tongs into two tongs, so that the two food contact sides of the respective pockets can be folded against each other. Third, if both the front and back of pockets are messy, the clean central tab can be torn, and folded over the back and/or front of the messy pockets, thereby keeping the hands, fingers and/or thumb of the user clean during disposal.
