摘要： A magnetic latching system for protective tabletop pads for providing a convenient and secure latching system for removably connecting pad sections together in a manner that minimizes the risk of damaging the tabletop. A tabletop protective pad section is provided for resting on a top surface of a table with at least one other pad section. The preferred protective pad section comprises a base member having a first face for facing in an upward direction and a second face for facing in a downward direction, with the first and second faces being oriented substantially parallel to each other. Each of the first and second faces has a perimeter, and the base member has a perimeter edge face extending between the perimeters of the first and second faces. A pair of side portions of the perimeter edge face are oriented generally parallel to each other on opposite sides of the base member. A magnetically-active structure is mounted on the first side portion of the perimeter edge face of the base member, and a magnetically-receptive structure is mounted on the second side portion of the perimeter edge face of the base member. The magnetically-active structure of the first side portion of a first one of the pad sections is magnetically couplable to the magnetically-receptive structure of the second side portion of a second one of the pad sections for removably holding the first and second pad sections in an adjacent condition.

摘要： This disclosure is directed to the use of rigid and semi-rigid materials to form a decorative covering device for standard folding banquet and convention tables. Through the use of a hinging mechanism on the front, rear and sides, this provides a device which can be folded up into an inside-out, flat configuration that can be easily transported and stored with minimal wear damage to its finished surfaces. The normally vertical front, rear and side sections of this device fold independently of one another into three different positions. Front, rear and side sections are a sandwich composition of plastic laminate and foam; the top section is a hardwood framework covered with a sandwich composition of plastic laminate and plywood. The first position of the sections is the operational position where the front, rear, and two side sections are deployed in a vertical position, hanging down from the top section, which rests upon the folding table. The second position is the storage-transport or stowed position where the front, rear and side sections fold out, up and onto the top upper surface and are secured, in order to reduce overall size of the covering device by changing it into flat configuration. The third position is an inactive position in which some of the deployed, normally hanging, sections (usually the rear and/or side sections) are folded in, up and under the top cover section, allowing for these sections to be positioned out of the way when they are not wanted, such as when it is desired to seat people at the table. These raised sections fold between the horizontal top cover and the top of the table on which the unit is placed.

A preferred embodiment comprises a heating device and method for warming people who are sitting outdoors using a table, a heater located under the table, and a blanket that encircles the tabletop, and has an inner edge that is removably secured to the tabletop. The heater includes a supply line and a regulator to control the quantity of fuel to the heater. The embodiment includes a blanket support that encircles and is attached to the table. When the device is not in use, the blanket can be stored in the blanket support. The opening in the middle of the blanket approximates the perimeter of the tabletop. People sit in chairs around the table, pick up the blanket from the blanket support and place the outer portion of the blanket on their laps.
